Thinking about how throam Ryan and Brendon’s relationship could essentially be summed up by the following…Ryan constantly goes between idealizing and devaluing Brendon. Ryan doesn’t consider the agency of other people when he wants something, but especially with Brendon. But that does come back to the fact that Ryan puts Brendon up on pedestal and romanticize/idealizes him to the point where he no longer views him as a complex human being with their own agency. And since Ryan has idealized him to such a degree, whenever Brendon ultimately fails to live up to Ryan’s impossible expectation of him-because they are impossible-Ryan completely devalues Brendon and lashes out at him.

Aka a textbook relationship with someone with borderline personality disorder.
