One of my favourite Salvation Army Band pieces is called ‘The Light of the World’ written and composed by Dean Goffin who I believe was Australian. Twilight Part One
Twilight.
The only time dark intertwines with the light.
It is also the only time that Hades is allowed to step to the surface. He goes to the only place where he would see her.
He watches from afar as the the waning light casts a warm glow to her brown hair. Her hands are idly twisting strands of grass between her fingers as she gazes at a flower Hades has never seen before.
He didnt understand why she gazes at it so sadly. A face that beautiful shouldnt frown that much.
"Roses. Why oh why are you so beautiful?"
Hades frowns further.
Roses?
"Your petals look as soft as a summer breeze, but your thorns are feirce and biting. Why did Mother make you so beautiful, if you werent meant to be picked?" She asks woefully.
Hades looks at her in concern. She wants a flo....a rose, but she may get hurt? He looks to the bush to see that the beautiful red flowers had thorns upon its stem.
He takes a step towards her, but he hesitates. He shouldnt approach such a delicate beauty. Hades looks down at his dark robes and pale hands.
How could he touch her with hands of death, which will only bring harm to any light?
He clenches his hands and hides them behind his back.
He should go.
Hades turns his back, but stops when he hears her voice again. "Perhaps if Im careful....very careful, I wont get stung."
Hades freezes and turns his head to see her delicate fingers reaching out to touch the rose.
"No!"
