AHHH I DID IT!!

here’s limbo (and the light), a song based on @tobiandjane​‘s story Through Frosted WIndows! i actually had an absolute blast making this, i couldn’t stop thinking about it!

there’s honestly so much to this song that it would be way to much to explain here, so feel free to ask me about it if you wish. anyway, i included everything you asked for! the romance isn’t mentioned much, but there’s still a subtle line in the bridge.

lyrics are under the cut, as well as the meaning behind them!

y’all i am sorry i haven’t posted in ages. here’s the title of the first chapter and a small excerpt from my first draft to make up for it:

A Bloodshot Girl And A Ghostly Boy

Holland Ezra Davis

6 hours after leaving Hell

Location: A Train In The Abyss

8:00 p.m.

The train. A girl. A boy.

The train. Another girl. Another boy.

The train. A handful more girls, a peppering of more boys.

Holland, the least boyish boy on that train, sat with a relaxed posture. One foot gently pushed against the floor, and a leg extended into all the luxurious foot room the train offered. His elbow grazed the armrest, before he firmly placed in there, cupping his own cheek with his hand. He was… bored.

First, he glanced directly across from him. A man in danger of falling through the cracks of the void at any second. His head was shaved, not even a centimeter of hair grew atop it. It wasn’t hair loss from age. In fact, the guy looked only a year older than Holland. It was a personal choice. And so was the snake tattoo, with beady eyes, so deliciously wrapped around his neck, along with a few other pieces of art wrapping around his arms. Holland admired his ability to express himself, but at the same time, he seemed like a fake. Fakes were boring, pointless. Holland adverted his gaze to the next row.

A few more guys, acting as if their feet planted into the ground and nails dug into their palms wasn’t an indication of their fear brewing. It was just a symptom of being a dissident sparkplug. Typical people were flung about on this train, and that was the most irritating obstacle.

1. how long have you been working on your current wip?

since april 28th :)

2. how much do you outline before writing?

an unsteady amount between too much and too little. so far, i have built my world and my ultimate main character, so i started writing. i still need to give one of my characters a background and i have no idea what my chapters will entail. minus chapter one, and that’s very vague bullet points. it’s workin’ for me right now though. 

3. do you like to sort your ocs into personality type?

not really. i never think about it. i just try to make a character that i like and i think is relatable. i have assigned my characters personality types upon request, but that’s not part of my ritual when creating characters.

4. is finding inspo on pinterest essential when you’re brainstorming?

abso-freakin-lutely. for my current wip, i found the foundation of what my characters look like on pinterest. i create moodboards with pinterest that help me grab the essence of my characters and their personality. one time i was stuck and in a rut, and i found something on pinterest that inspired an entire story. pinterest is a very important tool to me.

5. a wip you worked on when you were twelve?

this is the worst question. it was called coffee shop love -- staring blake and nick. not two dudes, if you are wondering, blake is a chick. yeah. some cringe stages. it was written in the worst first person i’ve ever read and i’m sad i had to open that document. moving on

6. a genre you haven’t written in yet but would like to?

i used to have an answer to this. i used to write strictly teen-fiction romance. my current wip is that genre i wanted to try (dystopian) and i love it. i didn’t let go of the teen romance, since i can include it in this plot, but the focus is much different. so if you want to try something new, do it. what’s the worst that’s gonna happen? you won’t like it and you can move on? cool. so step outside of your comfort zone!

7. what time of day do you write best?

whenever i’m motivated. probably mornings and nights, unless i’m extremely motivated, then any time of the day. morning and night are both quiet, i think that’s why. i used to live and breathe listening to music when i wrote, but now i really enjoy listening to the silence and the tapping of the keys. i find music almost distracting now, which sucks, because i love music. but it is what it is.

8. when did you start to love writing?

sixth grade when my english teacher gave me inspiration and told me i had talent. we still commune back and fourth to this day about my writing. i’ve interviewed her for projects and simply just sent her stuff i’d like her to read. i dedicate a lot of my success to her (and myself, obviously)

9. share a description of your protagonists in your current wip?

a pair of twins and a damaged soul, naive to the world around them. i’ll keep it at that ;)

10. authors that inspire you?

can i say jane? i honestly struggle to read. i like to write more complex ideas, but when i read i want a simple idea, with fast moving plot points or i get bored. i like books i can read in a few hours and think on for a little bit of time after that.

i’m quickly becoming unhappy with my current progress of through frosted windows. obviously this plot has so much to it and it’s not something i have the heart to discard, so i’m restarting my draft. draft 2. i only got 3,000 words into draft 1, but i’m so unhappy with it i can’t even write it anymore. so let’s restart, shall we?
