summary: two against one is a mystery/crime novel that brings you through the twisted life of merle clarke. her triplet brothers go missing one night, and a mysterious boy named fitz—who she’s wary of, but intrigued by—helps her go looking for them. this is because he’d been teaching one of the boys how to play guitar for many years. as the story progresses, the boys turn up dead. it’s up to the cops to decide who murdered the boys.

tobi’s tips for writers who don’t like to read:

1. the first time you open a book, be willing to sit down and indulge for at least 100 pages. this may seem daunting, especially if you don’t like to read, but in my experience, a lot of books don’t pick up until page 50, sometimes even further along than that. if you like your book after 100 pages, keep reading!

2. try to read 25-50 pages of your book every night from then. keep yourself reading, because if you don’t, you might fall out of touch with your book.

3. don’t be afraid to take notes. don’t overwhelm yourself with them, but if they help you focus or comprehend things, take. those. notes.

please give your characters strange obsessions. it‘s the most important thing for me. i always give my ocs adorable obsessions, things they love with a burning passion and will ramble about for hours. it‘s what makes them authentic and, most importantly, likeable!!! so please!!! don‘t forget to include the sword fanatic or the obsessive flower collection or the sketching bugs in a smudged old notebook!! i love it

hi guys! i have an idea. i want to make a list of writing prompts! i haven’t decided if i want to do it as a month-long sort of thing, or just a simple prompt list. but i want to have themes that loosely cooralate with the fall and winter months. so far i only have two:

‘a romantic bubble bath for one’ & ‘ghosts around every street corner’

they’d be one line prompts, and i wanted to open this up for you all to participate! the prompt list will be going on my main tumblr (@tobiwestport) & if you submit a prompt that i like enough, i’ll add it to the list & tag you of course!

so if you have a one-line prompt in mind, please let me know! i will be trying to think of these throughout the next few weeks and hopefully get enough.

6. describe your desired style. who is most similar to that style?

there is style in everything that someone does. the most commonly thought of: fashion. but there are other things you can have “style” in, too. art, specifically. all kinds of art: writing, painting, drawing, taking photos, organizing collages or pinterest boards, editing photos, the list goes on. i want my style to be art. the way i dress should reflect the artistic being within. i want to look eclectic. the one who has inspired the desire to express myself in every way possible is one of the coolest friends i’ve had the pleasure of being pals with. 

16. describe the dreamiest spot in your town.

a locally owned coffee shop with an animated owner, who is delighted to see any customer that comes her way. the shop has a warm atmosphere and is a perfect spot to study during those glorious free periods my school so graciously allows us. the coffee -- don’t even get me started on the coffee -- it comes at an affordable price and is the best coffee i have ever had. this means a lot coming from a coffee snob like me. i’ve never had a bad coffee from this place. i will be a returning customer for as long as i reside in this small, hometown of mine.

hi guys! my name is tobi westport, you may know me from @tobiandjane. tobi and jane is a project my friend jane and i embarked on, and although i love that account & will still probably be active on it, i wanted to start an account that was entirely my own.

here’s a small glimpse into my personal (but not too personal) life:

i am a full time student who is interested in literature arts, psychology & creative writing.

my feelings constantly confuse me & i feel bad for all my friends who have to deal with my constant mood changes & phases.

my zodiac sign is cancer (explains the sentence above this one).

my myers-briggs is an infp!

i have a cat named esther. if you hate cats, your mind will be blown when you meet esther. she’s one of the sweetest cats out there & i’ve converted a few cat-hating people into cat-tolerating people with her. although she is a little destructive...

i have a few fun goals set in plan:

- start a youtube channel when i become an official college student

- at some point in my life, i want to convert a van into a living space and travel

- i would like to write a short story by the end of this year!

through frosted windows is a wip i’ve had in the works since march. i’ll be honest, i haven’t touched it in over a month. my inspiration has been sucked dry, but i do have some posts about it on @tobiandjane if somehow you found this post without coming from that account.

this wip is still very important to me & i will be coming back to it, i just have been swamped with school and i feel like i don’t have as much time to write anymore. ironic since i literally just made a new writerblr.

i have a small short story plan written out and i think this is something i will start plotting and writing within the next few weeks when i can catch a few extra moments.
