Through the Kaleidoscope
"Sir, it appears we have a disturbance." JARVIS cut through the music and drawing an irritated tut from Tony.
"I'm busy here, J. Is it something I need to know about?" He was hunched over a work station, DUM-E laid out in front of him. It was a regular tune up, one to make sure the old robots were still working but to Tony is was like surgery. He hated leaving them vulnerable like this.
"Sir, this is non-terrestrial in origin. It would appear that a portal has opened." JARVIS intoned while Tony carefully worked inside his creation.
"What, so Hammer guy with the long hair is back? Big deal." He scoffed.
"No sir, the patterning and trace is different."
That had Tony's attention. His finger's didn't still instead the bot, instead they moved quicker with a deft dexterity which came with years of practise and an intimate knowledge. His instruments were not musical, but his movements were reminiscent of a conductor or a violinist; delicate, precise, beautiful. He checked wires and conduits, circuits and their connections, each and every segment of the bot which would be prone to wear and tear, and then some besides. Within fifteen minutes, the job was done and DUM-E was being winched back to standing. Tony on the other hand, was in front of a screen inspecting the readings. In five minutes, he was suiting up.

"JARVIS, anything more on the feed?" He muttered, his voice echoing inside the helmet. The display before his eyes read he was close, slowing his thrusters. He didn't want to drop in on a threat, especially at this time of night.
"No sir, the one disturbance. It appears one entity has crossed." Tony listened to the heavy drive of rain hammer on the suit, the sound oddly comforting as distorted as it was. He started to descend, aiming to land just out of immediate reach of the land site, wary of an ambush.
