RE: the rocking chair meme. IDK if it's 'cause I already know a lot of the other answers or just that I like imagining it, but my one question is: Have you ever been to a disco? (Or other dance craze that isn't English Country, etc?) If yes, what were you wearing? XD

No, I have not. In the 70s I was married to a 50s kind of guy and had we gone anywhere, it would have been to a jazz club. But I can tell you I would have been wearing an extremely short skirt because that's what I wore in those days. So, so short.

I can't help much. I only made it through Order of the Phoenix, partly because I was trying to graduate, partly (maybe mostly) because emo teen Harry was less interesting to me.

Heh, yes. Teen books are a lot less interesting to me than books about kids or adults. We shall see.

I wouldn't read them all at once, they came out serially and need some time between or they get truly dull. The later, the less editing, too

Good point. I tore through the first three in twenty-four hours and was pretty jazzed. Maybe I’ll put it aside for a while, see whether I really want to continue.

Imagine if the computer voice really is Chapel, her scientist fiance, Korby, having designed the text-to-speech part of the computer system and used her voice patterns, distorted by digitization. It still makes her laugh to hear it, and then she remembers when Korby recorded her and goes a bit sad. Sometimes Bones or M'Benga or random crewmen speak to her, mimicking the voice, just to annoy her.

Just had to say those Spones pieces are super lovely. Especially the 2nd bc their postures are perfectly them and yes to Bones climbing into/onto Stock's lap and just *insinuating* himself into his space, and the 3rd because it's really beautiful. <3

So then what is school lunch like in Australia if there aren't cafeterias??

everyone brings packed lunches from home! at primary school we had a lunch order program where you could order pies and sausage rolls and milk and stuff on a slip of paper that you handed in at the start of the day and it got delivered at lunch, but you only got that every once in a while, or when your parents were running late and didn’t have time to pack your lunchbox.

in high school there was a canteen on site, but it’s not a big building that everyone sits in, it’s a separate shop with windows that open onto the school yard to buy things through. mostly people just spread out all across the school grounds and eat their food from home where ever their group has “claimed” to be their usual spot, but if you had money you could buy lunch from the canteen instead… a lot of people spent their spare change on potato cakes with chicken salt even if they had a packed lunch though cause those things were like crack, and people would throw themselves at your mercy if you had money to buy them one.

this was probably far more information that you ever wanted or needed, but there you go, hahaha. I’m curious though, in the US is there a certain allotment of time that everyone has to be in the cafeteria and eating and only after that do you get to go outside or can you just do whatever you want during the whole lunch period?
