The storm had taken her by surprise. Qi-Ying was on her way to visit her close friend who resided on the Moon. There had been an alert back at the Tower advising Guardians against venturing to the Moon; enemy activity was at an all time high and those who were there had already packed up and left. She never checked things like that, she was too reckless. Plus it had been far too long since she’d visited her friend so even if she had seen the alert, it wouldn’t have swayed her.
Her ship landed safely and she hopped out with a determined look on her face. She didn’t really remember where her friend lived but it was in a cave for sure. Poking her head into a couple of shallow caves, she shuddered at the loud chittering noises in the distance. The Thrall were becoming much more active. She suspected some sort of ritual was about to begin and she wanted no part in it. The Hive scared her in ways she herself couldn't comprehend. She only put up with them because her friend lived with some. How he even managed that, she didn't want to know. He'd given nicknames to the Thrall that lived with him and constantly groomed them. It scared her sometimes.
The chittering got closer and a couple Fallen skiffs began to land on the surface. She steeled herself for a fight and recoiled in shock from the sheer amount of Fallen pouring out of their ships. Hive swarmed the Fallen and Qi-Ying quickly retreated, realizing she wanted no part in this if she still valued her life. The only place to run was a deceptively shallow cave. Furrowing her eyebrows, she weighed the pros and cons of going down these tunnels when the noises grew louder and she was forced to begin her descent, lest she get caught in the crossfire. So she ducked into the cave and felt her way along the walls. "Ghost? I could use a little bit of light..." Her Ghost popped out and circled nervously around her. "I don't think this place is a good idea." She snorted and shook her head. "We've got no other choice..."
The walls felt slimy and, after taking her helmet off and tucking it neatly under her arm, she brought her hand up to her face to sniff at the weird ooze. A coppery scent hit her and she scrunched her nose up in disgust. "This is awful...What's happening down here?" The tunnels got smaller as she creeped along and they suddenly opened up to a wide room. Chittering could be heard all around her and they were gradually closing in. Her shoulders shot up as a chill ran down her spine and she looked wildly around her, convinced there was a presence somewhere near. "Do you feel that?" "I think you're just imagining it. There's nothing on the radar and I don't detect anyone close to us." Qi-Ying let out a frustrated noise and tried to look around in the dark. From what she could see, there were odd structures and shapes but she couldn’t make them out.
Taking a couple steps forward into the room, she heard shuffling behind her. Looking over her shoulder, she saw no one and tilted her head in confusion. She could have sworn that there was someone behind her. A black figure quickly attacked her from the front, swiftly knocking her out. He had circled around her and caught her off guard.
