CHAPTER ONE
"Oh, hey Yellow!" Blue called out just as Yellow got onto Dody's back.
"Yeah?" Yellow didn't make Dody leave the area just yet.
"Before you go... Just promise me as usual. One, don't tell anyone you're collecting badges for Lance, and two, don't tell anyone about the unusual changes of the Forest either. There's no guarantee that what Lance said won't slip out as a result." She warned.
"Okay"
"And lastly... give me a call when you're done collecting the badges, alright?"
Yellow nodded.
"You know that if you break these promises, you'll be the one in trouble! Everyone will get in your way rather than help you!"
"...I'll keep that in mind." Yellow nodded, a little nervous now.
"Bye!" The two greeted to one another as Yellow dashed away on Dody.
"...Hey Bill. I didn't say this to Yellow but.. don't you think there's one thing strange about this?" Blue asked as she caught up with him to check out the Forest a bit more.
"Everything is strange about it, not just one." Bill responded.
"Yeah but... Why do you think Lance didn't just use force? He could always steal them from nearby trainers if he wanted to. Heck, it'd be faster if he just attacked the gyms for it like he did last time." Blue mused. "...But instead, he requested Yellow to get them, you know? No matter how I look at it, I don't understand it."
"..I wouldn't know how a guy like him thinks." Bill spoke.
Blue released a sigh. "How unreliable."
"...Shut up."
----------╰☆╮---------
"I'm leaving things to you, Green." Red spoke from outside the Viridian gym to his friend. "Leave it or not won't change what I do." He laughed.
"...You're doing as you please again. That'll never change." Green spoke.
"Sorry to disappoint, but I plan this one to be my last one."
"Think you can do that?"
"Nah. I don't think so. But... with this, I plan to sort things out from my life!" Red declared. "I'll be going!" He waved good bye to Green.
"Do as you want." Green stood watching for a moment as Red continued on his way. "To sort out, huh? ...That's just like you, Red." He shook his head before going back inside the gym.
Sooner or later, Pika leaped from Red's shoulder to run elsewhere with a "Pikapi!"
"Pika? Where are you..?"
Pika leapt into the arms of a person.
"Huh? ...Pika! Hello! And hello to you too, Red-san!" Yellow greeted as she came out from the bushes with a burlap over her shoulder.
"Yellow!"
Yellow came out of the bushes with a laugh and with Pika in her arms. Red didn't fail to notice a burlap at her side though.
"Are you going somewhere?" He asked just as Yellow was about to comment on his backpack.
"...It seems you're going on a journey." She spoke.
"Ah.. something like that."
"I see.. that's..."
"Don't worry! I'll be in touch when I come back!" Red assured her with a pat on her head.
"No! That's not it! I mean... I was going to ask you a favor since I have a journey of my own to go on."
"You, Yellow? That's rare. Let me hear this favor of yours anyway. I'm not in any hurry."
Yellow looked down at Pika for a moment before looking at Red again.
"...I'd like to borrow Pika."
"Eh!? ...W-what for?"
"...To tell you the truth..." She started.
"They'll get in your way." Blue's words, though it was rearranged in Yellow's mind rang before she could say another word.
'Red-san getting in my way... He'd be an absolute enemy! What should I do!? Umm... Umm...'
Yellow needed to think. She couldn't possibly tell him the entire truth!
"...I want to test my strength." She spoke. May as well use a bit of what Blue had said as her excuse. "I want to... test myself by challenging the gyms, especially... and... It'd be reassuring for me if Pika was by my side."
"Really, Yellow? You? I would never expect you of all people to actually want to go out and give it a try!" Red responded, totally buying her excuse with a sparkle in the background.
...Urgh, Yellow thought to herself.
"But if that's the case... I'm more inclined to say no. Pika's my pokemon afterall."
"Still." Yellow spoke after he answered. "..I want the badges. I must have them." That rare, but serious look was in Yellow's eyes as she held onto Pika gently in her arms. Pika seemed worried as he looked up at her. Red was rather surprised, but he was still thinking of a solution. One that everyone could agree to.
"Hm... Alright. I got it." He finally spoke after a few more moments of pondering.
"Huh? Then, are you..?"
"No. I'm not lending you Pika." Red spoke.
"Ah... of course..." Yellow sighed as she let Pika on the ground. "You will need Pika's help if you're going on a journey."
"That's one thing, but Pika's my precious partner. But... how about only for when you're doing Gym battles?"
"...Only when I'm doing Gym battles?" Yellow repeated, not quite catching on yet.
"I mean, why don't we just travel together?" He grins.
"...EEEEEH?! ..Wha.. Wha.. Whaa..."
"While we're on the topic, it'd make Chuchu happy too!" Pika's ears perked at this. "But that way, we can both be with Pika together, right?" Pika was all for this idea. "Man, I'm so smart!"
"B-but.. Red-san! What about the purpose of your journey?!"
"There is none."
"..!"
"This journey is just me wandering the place like the last time. There really is no purpose. Besides.." He looked at Yellow for a moment. "It's more fun to travel with someone than alone."
And that feeling right there was something that Yellow knew quite well. Sure, she wasn't alone most of the time, but when she was... it wasn't really as fun as it usually is with someone there. While Yellow was hesitating to give her answer, Red continued to say what he thought... especially with Yellow's lack of battle skills. While Yellow was not hoping to face that til later, his offers to help her along the way was definitely tempting. Too tempting that she spoke pretty fast.
"Then... I leave myself in your hands, Red-san." She spoke.
"Yeah! I'll train you well!"
"...Do treat me gently." She nervously laughed as he started walking away. And while he wasn't looking her way, she allowed herself a bit of happiness as she tugged her hat down. However, there was a rumble that only she could hear.. and Yellow knew better than to think nothing of it. She didn't have much time...
"Come on! Let's go conquer the Gyms!" Red spoke, snapping Yellow back to reality.
"Yeah!" She smiled then as she released her hat to go after him with Pika climbing up to come onto her shoulder. "I'm in your hands, Pika!" She spoke to the Pikachu with a wink while he was quite happy.
"As long as I'm with you, I will not approve of any losses."
"No losses? That's... insane..."
"Insane? That sort of spirit won't do!"
"..Y-yeah! I'll do my best!"

[Prologue]
[Ch. 1]
"Yellow! There you are!" Another voice reached out to the girl who turned again and smiled.
"Hello Blue-san." She greeted.
"What are you spacing out for again? Bill's waiting on you."
"Ah, sorry! It's nothing. I'm coming."
The two girls walked toward the river where Bill was reading over the information on his portable computer.
"Bill-san! Sorry for the wait!" Yellow called out to get his attention.
"Ah! Yellow! Blue!" Bill turned and smiled a little.
"So, what's the status reading of the Viridian Forest..?" Blue asked.
"Ah.. well, according to the data collected, it seems as though..." He started to explain, using more advanced words for even Yellow to understand.
She yawned a little and started to sit down, quite close to falling asleep. Of course, this didn't go unnoticed as Blue scooped her right back up to her feet. "Come on now, Yellow. You asked him to come, didn't you?"
"Ah.. Yeah. Sorry." Yellow sheepishly smiled.
Bill chuckled. "It's okay! I'll use more simple words. Compared to the data from three years ago, the Forest is... well... It doesn't have long. It's dying."
There was a moment of silence as the information was taken in. It was just as Yellow had suspected. Something was wrong. She didn't know how to explain it.. but she felt it. She already knew. She just needed confirmation. Or perhaps she had thought that maybe it was just her imagination... but with the information given now... it only confirmed for her that what she felt in this Forest was not her imagination.
"Is there anything we can do to help it?" Blue asked, getting Yellow back to reality.
"Well..." Bill started.
"It's just as you thought, isn't it?" A voice cut in as another person made their appearance from the trees.
All three looked up. Bill panicked for a moment as Blue and Yellow looked ready for action as they both reached for their pokeballs to fight.
"Stay behind us, Bill!" Blue warned.
"I'm not here for a fight." He spoke.
"What else could you be here for?" Blue countered. "Why are you here, Lance?!"
Lance, however, wasn't looking at Blue. He was looking at Yellow as she relaxed herself, but not completely.
"Yellow de Tokiwa Grove." He spoke, grabbing her attention. "You know why this Forest isn't as prosperous as it was three years ago."
"What?" Blue was quite surprised as she looked at Yellow and back at Lance. What did he mean?
"...My abilities." Yellow spoke. "...I get more and more tired when I use it. And when I sleep, I sleep longer than usual." She explained.
"And there you have it." Lance spoke.
"And how does that explain why you're here?" Blue asked.
Instead of answering her, he held up a device that was only too familiar to Blue and Yellow. "The gym badge energy amplifier. What do you plan to do with that?" Blue asked.
Yellow watched for a moment. "...You plan on destroying this Forest with that thing, don't you?" Yellow piped in.
"Is that how you ask for help? ...No matter. It'll do. This device can be used to help this Forest. The only thing it'll need is all the badges."
"What makes you think we'll believe you?!" Blue asked. "We're not going to hel--"
"...I believe him." Yellow spoke.
"Yellow?!" Blue turned her attention to the Healer.
"We don't have much of a choice. However, I do have one question for you, Lance-san." Yellow turned her attention to him.
"Hm?"
"Of all the places you could help, why do you want to restore this Forest?" Yellow asked.
"An easy question. Because I was also born here." Lance answered.
And that was all it took for Yellow to make up her mind. "How do you intend to collect the badges then?"
"I'm not going to. You will, Yellow."
That was when Yellow blinked. "W-what?!"
"I'm a known villain, remember? I can't just go in and get it as usual. But anyways. Gather the eight badges in 3 months and meet me on the Indigo Plateau. If not... then this Forest will be no more." He answered. "I'll be waiting." And at that, Lance called out his Dragonite and took to the skies to leave the place.
Blue and Bill seemed so against it... but a look at Yellow made Blue calm down as she sighed. "...I get it. Your mind is made up, huh?"
Yellow looked at Blue and smiled a little. "...Yes."
"But how are you going to get the badges? It's not like you can just walk up to them and ask for them."
"Of course not." Blue responded. "She'll have to do it the traditional way and challenge them."
"What?!" Yellow and Bill spoke at the same time.
"But that's impossible. Yellow's fighting skills aren't on par with everyone else's.."
"That's right? I'm the weakest out of everyone else!" Yellow added in.
Blue gave Yellow a small look. "Then there goes that plan Lance told you to follow."
Yellow went silent for a moment.
With a sigh, Blue shook her head a little. "...but it's not like that's going to be enough to stop you."
Yellow smiled then. "No, it's not." She agreed.
"But..." Bill started.
"No buts, Bill." Blue interjected. "Yellow. Good luck. You go do what you can and I will keep looking for a way to restore this Forest for you."
Yellow nodded. "Thanks, you two."
"In that case, I'll help too!" Bill spoke, looking at Blue.
"Of course you will. I'm going to work you like a slave."
"Eep!" And the two wandered off.
Yellow smiled as she watched them go before calling out her entire pokemon team. Chuchu, Ratty, Omny, Gravvy, Dody, Kitty.
"Everyone... I'm sorry for making you fight for me. Will you guys help me again?" She spoke as she gave each of her pokemon love.
With cries of encouragement from each of them, she grinned in relief. "Thank you!"
On my latest Pikachu photoset, some people commented that they had never seen the bucket animation. So here's what you have to do to access it in the Yellow Version... as well as the Thunder Yellow Version.
