The Digital Influencers Marketing Summit Rizal: Transforming Influencers to Brand Advocates Attending the Digital Influencers Marketing Summit Rizal was a very enriching experience. I had no idea how it’s going to be yet I had given myself a pat on the back after I successfully and confidently introduced myself to my co-participants. Since last year, I marked my calendar that I would be attending the summit. After I made an inquiry, registered and settled other concerns, I couldn’t contain my excitement knowing that I’m going to benefit from the interaction.
This one day intensive meeting had given me the opportunity to meet like-minded people and be able to listen to a faculty of well-respected speakers and online entrepreneurs headed by the summit organizer and the mother of E-Commerce Law in the Philippines, Ms. Janette Toral. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to learn, more power to you Ma’am! Congratulations to Digital Filipino, we are supporting your advocacy to help Filipinos who are aspiring to become e-commerce entrepreneurs. Why not you guys sign up for the ongoing ecommercebootcamp?
The beautiful venue, Thunderbird Resorts was kind enough to supply lunch and provided generous amount of coffee for sustenance (included in the conference fee + an IM Digital Influencer shirt), provided scenic grounds towards pleasurable walks and talks for all of us. They also accorded us a casino appreciation tour.
The Digital Influencers Marketing Summit Rizal was a huge benefit because of speaker's well-versed and friendly approach with good presentation, answering participant’s uncertainties beyond blogging. They were generous in sharing their knowledge and expertise. They also showed a high level of respect for everyone.
Speaker's topics:
◘ Bloggers as Influencers and Brand Advocates by Ben Francia and Maita Siquijor
◘ Hitting Page 1: How Influencers and Brand Advocates are Shaping Search Engine Results by Khoa Bui and panelist Tof Salcedo
◘ Building Relationship with Influencers and Brand Advocates by Joma Giron and Trixie Esguerra
◘ The Influencer Transformation by Rosario Juan and Fitz Villafuerte
◘ How Social Media Influence Result to E-Commerce Purchase by Dr. Nick Fontanilla
◘ Influencer's Pitch Session: The Advocacy Against Autism Jokes by Pastor Eyriche Cortez
The camaraderie alone was worth the trip that you wouldn’t hesitate to attend another conference again. It’s definitely challenging and inspiring, the experience has made me take blogging and publishing more seriously as it demands commitment and dedication. This passion for music lives on! Yeah!
The speakers were notable and highly skilled in their respective fields, we were supplemented by the education needed for our own engagements. Through the summit, I gained more knowledge in generating brand awareness, advocacy support, high search engine visibility, providing remarkable content, selecting the right target market and the relevant people to engage in a community, building reputation, converting traffic to results, difference of bloggers then and now, social media as service platform, engagement marketing, creating social media plan, establishing a personal brand, going offline interaction, engaging social media as part of the online marketing strategy or a new outlet and opportunity to reach consumers. All these and more.
All photos were taken from my mobile except the group photo courtesy of Dennis Rito. To everyone who participated, it feels great to be surrounded with like-minded and goal-oriented individuals like you. And all of us were thankful for the Antz The Bread Factory's freshly baked breads, it was such a delicious treat.

Escape, Santorini-Style
If there was one thing that I wouldn't mind staying in for on a Friday night, it would definitely have to be an early trip out of town. During the long weekend, Bunny, Paolo and I hit the road bright and early to head north. Our destination: Thunderbird Resorts in La Union.
The goal, aside from de-stressing, de-compressing and enjoying endless hours under the sun...
After a very long drive outside the city, we finally made it!
iLove the Santorini-inspired architecture all throughout the area.
The picturesque beach reminds one of endless Greek summers, despite the rain.
As you enter the resort, this is what greets you.
What better way to spend a long weekend than to lounge around here?
We were starving by the time we arrived but knowing we were far, far, away from the toxic city, made it a-ok.
So we headed to Sunset Resort, a five-minute ride from Thunderbird, where we fueled up on delish servings.
Chicken parmigiana for little ole me.
Bunny loading up on a hearty steak.
Finally, it was time to head back to our hotel and check out the suite that they had given us. Rumor was, we were to be billeted at the Presidential suite.
Lo and behold. Our sweet, sweet suite that overlooks the ocean and an awe inspiring sunset.
Fit for royalty. This is, hands-down, the best bed on earth. Waking up is almost impossible as you feel that you are, quite literally, sleeping on clouds. Also love that they leave a mint chocolate by your bedside each night.
Exhibit A. Sleeping on layers of cotton candy clouds.
I kid you not when I say, the sunset from our room can leave you breathless.
Time flies when you're having a great time. Before we knew it, it was nighttime.
Getting ready for a lovely dinner and a night at the casino. While I do not gamble, I kinda like the visuals from the film, "Casino" and so this is my way of channeling Ginger.
Like I said, Ginger. NOT!!! Shop much?
Anyway, going back, iLove Bunny's animal print chiffon jumpsuit which I found to be perfect for a night of fun and luck.
With the weekend's host, Paolo. His plan was to relax and de-stress although I seriously doubt he managed to. With two (and later three) crazy girls to take care of, it was a lot of babysitting. Thanks, Don Pao!
We had the most filling dinner at the casino's restaurant with Paolo and his buddy, Emmanuelle. Shorty after, we explored the casino grounds.
After a few drinks, we found a very happy and satisfied Bunny who had won at the slot machines.
Unless you're a hardcore gambler, there's no way you will stay past three hours in a casino. By around midnight, it was time to retire and return to our heavenly suite.
At around 4AM, we got the best surprise of our trip! Pamster aka Sniper! She had driven for seven full hours to get to us!
Having slept through most of the morning, we woke up the next day to a painfully gloomy sky and non-stop rain.
Looked to us like there was no chance on earth we could hit the beach as we had planned.
We were, however, suiting up to go up the mountains. Here's the thing. We had beach clothes and nothing else packed. Going up the mountains meant 19 to 20 degree temperature. Note that Pam had on a divine strapless dress that would have been perfect on a yacht. (
Solution 1: drink lots of alcohol to fight off the cold.
Solution 2: Take more with you in the car just in case temp continues to drop.
Solution 4: Buy green, leafy vegetables which you can stuff into your shirt for added warmth.
After shopping in the market under the cold rain, we all decided to treat ourselves to a great dinner at Cafe by the Ruins. Solution 5, by the way, were the waterproof jackets that we were wearing in the photo. Don Pao had requested them from the resort to keep us from whining about the cold and rain.
Lots of delish treats in this quaint resto.
I never fail to order a cup of fresh Moroccan mint tea with honey and lemon at Ruins. Perfect to battle cold weather, a threatening cold or simply, a nasty hangover.
Pam and Bunny shared a large serving of Sinigang which proved ideal for the weather.
Ever the vegetarian, Pao indulged in this gorgeous three mushroom crepe.
Salads are beautiful up north as in the case of this plate which was shortly devoured upon serving.
By the end of the meal, we were happy campers once more and ready for a topsy turvy drive back to the resort.
We were exhausted but extremely satisfied by the time we got back to the hotel.
Finally, on the last day, we had clear blue skies!
Hit the poolside early to get started on that elusive tan.
Bunny joined me shortly with her firing squad of tanning products. iLove!
It was scorching that day, we had to dip in the water every so often otherwise, heatstroke.
Wish we could stay under the sun all day long but we had to drive back to the city later that day.
In the meantime, we made friends with these kiddos (aka Bunny's fan club).
The perfect morning had just passed and it was time to head home.
Refreshed from the long weekend and set to brave the big week ahead. Also looking more colorful than usual.
One last "au revoir!"
