I just wanted to thank you for your romanticism crash course. I'm enjoying it immensely and am learning a ton. Please feel free to never stop.
LOL, romanticism is a really big subject. Honestly, you can take almost anything based in emotional passion and say “this is romantic.” You could do “romanticism as explained through the music of Dolly Parton.”
I chose Rammstein as my band of choice because they hit so many of these romantic themes and they hit it so hard that it can’t be unintentional, and then lo and behold, there’s actually a lot of references to German romantic literature and art that gets lost on me as someone who doesn’t speak German. I like Rammstein as a band because once you get past the initial shocking exterior, the music they make has a solid basis in art, literature, film and history, which I will always respect tf out of. (also, you can absolutely say the same thing about Dolly Parton’s music, so someone please do “romanticism as explained through the music of Dolly Parton.”)
