He sets the glass container down with enough force to shake the table a certain degree, taking care not to break the dessert and have its frozen, sugary delights spill onto his own desk. It was at present commondered by his twin, who had he observed been spending the better part of the last few hours pouring through books and other documents he’d stored around his shop that had any connection to their father. Huh, so it must be that day, again.
“C’mon, Vergil. How much longer do you plan on chasin’ ghosts?” Settling a gloved hand down on the edge of the desk, Dante leans against it whilst placing his opposite hand on the same hip, elbow pointing outwards. He was fresh from a visit to his favourite local haunt-- one of the few places in the city that served both pizza and ice cream sundaes. The dessert that was offered to Vergil was orginally his own, but upon observing the way he had been digging for answers all day, he had thought his sibling needed it more.
“Why don’tcha try tucking into this for a spell? Who knows, it’s possible you’ll find you have a sweet tooth for such meals.”
@thxbluxdxvil liked for a starter!
“ ... i didn’t come here to fight. i came here to speak.”
those were the first words the escaped the lips of the demoness. she was uncertain how he would feel about her request. if he lifted up his yamato, she would prepare herself for a fight - something that she expected from the sparda brother. she could only just hope that he would just hear her out as trish. as herself and not a puppet.

“Guess... this is seriously something you don’t see every day.”

Hair wet from a continuous drizzle is ruffled in frustration at the task placed before him. Disarmed, Rebellion lies lengthways in the muck, Dante expressing hesitance in retrieving it. He had been the one to suggest their current sparring session, a few weeks after the weight of the news that his brother was alive had finally settled.
“Never lost your edge, have ya brother? Guess I’m the one that’s grown rusty!
"How dastardly." ಠ_ಠ

He had it coming.
Those opting to attack the unsuspecting deserve every ounce of karma one has to give. How sad for the man in his grasp that today, karma came in the form of a virus, a sentient contagion with patience the size of a gnat when it came to dealing with military personnel and their futile attempts to kill or capture. From behind he'd heard the order to open fire, and in the next moment bullets lodged deep within the biomass swirling around them, engulfing them, pushing them back out of his body or merely crushing them beneath the visible surface. Alex had dispatched the lackeys with relative ease, though the true culprit kept it interesting. He RAN, as though it would do any good, and it proved a mistake he'd pay dearly for, much like the order he'd given.
Now, the commander's luck had run out, as he dangles helplessly at Alex's side, held by the throat as the virus maneuvers through crowds of civilians, military, and wandering infected, dodging notice of an armored vehicle -- kudos to a rampaging hunter for that one -- in search of some privacy, lest he deal with further retaliation from bigger guns than the last. That, and that hunter could prove an annoyance as well. Alex only needs a moment or two to recover, to deal with the bastard he held and replace the biomass lost or weakened by the previous assault. And, what he needed, he found. This area, he knows like the back of his hand. The only part that seemed to change was the location of safer, quiet points, and this time, he'd found one right at the outskirts of the chaos.
He skids to a stop within the boundaries of the alley -- street? It's hard to classify, but the important part was, it was basically abandoned and that serves his purpose well enough. His captive struggles in his grasp, choked voice demanding release, which Alex denies. Instead he holds the man before him, biomass trembling well beneath the surface. Anticipation. Indeed that makes it so much sweeter. This bastard had proved a thorn in his side well before the events of today, and now he'd pay for it. With the hand still free, Alex pierces the side wall of the soldier's abdomen, tendrils extending in that same instant to attach and drain, consuming living flesh while the man screamed in his final few seconds. His voice echoes, his body feeding the virus and rebuilding tissue and strength alike.
Oh, and it feels good!
A fitting end for one so obnoxious, though it seems he was not alone in this endeavor. Behind him sounds a voice, softer than the prior screams or even the usual barking of orders, yet still it captures attention in the same manner. His head jerks to the source, narrowed eyes taking in the sight of another man who'd clearly witnessed the scene, as well as the bloody aftermath now staining the concrete beneath Alex's feet. What's more, this man is not running from it. Curious, that. Intriguing. That seemed to be the part that made everyone’s skin crawl, that whole...consuming humans, bit, but as he'd learned long ago, there are exceptions to everything. And, if this wasn't an exception, this guy was doing a damn good job of hiding it. Points for that.
"What?" Asked with a feigned naïveté, as though what he did was the most normal thing in the world. For him it was, not so much for those outside himself. So, perhaps the man doesn't count as an exception entirely, as it's clear by his commentary that the scene had some effect on him at least. What that effect was, it's hard to say, but Alex is satisfied with the results anyway. Something is better than nothing, after all. With that in mind, he faces the stranger, giving the briefest shrug and turns quickly into tugging at his coat - like an adjustment, if such a thing were possible.
"He started it."
How long had the stranger been watching the musician play? Steely azures drank the maiden in. The motion of her fingers, the sway of her form, the delight of those silky blue locks falling elegantly around them. She had become his fascination for the time being. Using up the downtime he'd acquired after tending to -- other things. When he might appear, it would be in front of her. Gone from a perch, to the shadows ahead with even steps drawing him closer. His chin lifted, shoulders squared. The epitime of a Noble with a sheathed katana in hold. Never once baring signs of threat to her, only quiet interest in her music. "Please." he implores, "Continue."
The presence would go unnoticed until he made himself known. She was lost to her music, a blissful reprieve from the gazes of others--or so she thought. When under the guise of being alone, Sona felt most alive. She felt as though she were the freest. There was no need to bar any emotion she felt, nor a standard she ought to hold herself to. She could become one with her etwahl and her heart, releasing each emotion through the vibration of song; happiness, anguish, love, regret--all these things flowed through Sona strongly, though the most prevalent sentiment in her current orchestration was longing. It was a yearnful sensation she had never known before, one she kept tucked away for so long that it demanded attention through her music--to be freed. She had reached a lull in the song when the voice calls out, beckoning her cerulean eyes to his location. Gem-like eyes would grown in size, startled that she had been so careless in forgetting her senses while performing. The man seemed imposing, as if he too demanded attention without uttering a word. There was regality to him, poise, something which made him stark against any background. He stood out due to his persona alone, though the blade in his grip did give her some pause. And yet, he beckoned her to continue the personal performance she had intended to be for herself. If she were cautious, she’d recoil, deflect the attention, or attempt to mislead the situation until she could flee. It was that fight or flight instinct which has saved her life far too many times.
And yet...curiosity kept her in place, and with a silent nod and a trailing gaze, the maven continued her performance for the man--though ethereal vocals accompanied the orchestration. When the piece neared its end, it would fade out into the gentlest sound, the final note plucked with soothing finality. Calloused fingers rest upon the deafened strings, her cerulean eyes reopening after having been shut during her performance. They studied him curiously, though her own posture would betray the upbringing of nobility. The common eye would have a difficult time reading her, though an astute individual or one close to her would know firsthand that there was a spark in her eyes--one of intrigue. “I hadn’t realized I garnered an audience. You’ll forgive my sound, I hope. I tend to favor the mood of my listeners when I perform for optimal enjoyment, but you’ve gotten a glimpse at something more...personal in nature.” Sona cants her head, ruby lips unmoving as her voice continues to pour into the man’s mind like liquid gold. “I could play something more suitable to your tastes if you should like it, though I believe an introduction is in order...you did eavesdrop on a lady’s secret orchestration after all.”
