Shit, she was one of the worst people that could walk in on this. It wasn't because he cared about how she might take it. Her opinion did not matter. It was the fact that she was close to the kid. Someone he would rather not have to explain things to. Such a shame that he can't get rid of her for that very reason.

Not that fighting her would be any better. His energy needed to be conserved for better things.
