Tickell's thrush, Senchal, October, 2025
December 15, 2024 - Tickell's Thrush (Turdus unicolor) Found in parts of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Pakistan, these thrushes live in mountain forests. They eat earthworms, insects, and fruit, foraging on the ground, sometimes in loose flocks. Breeding between April and August, they probably raise two broods a year, building deep cup-shaped nests from fibers, moss, ferns, roots, dry stems and leaves, rootlets or horsehair, and sometimes mud in trees, bushes, or holes in banks. Females lay clutches of three to five eggs.
