“This is actually pretty cool, Chac—AGH!” Arupek screeched, falling onto the pavement as the skateboard that was underneath him seconds prior was now several feet away from him. Chaco let out a sigh. After Arupek had declared that it was unfair that Chaco was able to ride on a skateboard while he had to walk, he had insisted Chaco let him use the skateboard from time to time. Of course, Chaco wasn’t going to say no, because he had no reason to, but he figured that Arupek may have a hard time.
He had to admit, Arupek wasn’t as terrible as he thought he’d be… but he was pretty close. He could stay balanced on the skateboard for only a few seconds at a time until he either lost his footing and would fall, or would crash into something, because clearly he didn’t know how to stop on a skateboard. It was both amusing and endearing to watch.
“Ouch…” Arupek had groaned, rubbing his tailbone where he had fallen. Chaco laughed.
“Want to ride together? It shouldn’t be too hard as long as you stay close to me,” Chaco suggested and by the way Arupek beamed, he could guess what the other’s answer would be.
“Great idea, Chaco! That would definitely work!” He replied, going to retrieve the skateboard. Chaco stepped on it, turning towards Arupek.
“Aru, hold onto my waist,” Chaco said, and Arupek nodded, stepping onto the skateboard, wrapping his arms around Chaco. Then, Chaco pushed forward with his other foot. Although the skateboard was small, it seemed to carry the two of them well enough, and they actually managed to cover some distance with barely any falls from Arupek losing balance again.
Arupek was admiring the view, catching sight of the Tuxedo Sam Kingdom, pointing it out with his hand. “Chaco, look! We’re almost there!”
His other hand grasped tighter to Chaco’s waist just as Chaco was about to respond. “That’s good, I’m getting a bit hungry–” His voice was cut off by his own yelp, as he jerked forward, which unfortunately caused the skateboard to shoot backwards. Seconds later, Arupek and Chaco were on the ground. Arupek and Chaco shared a shocked expression, before the latter slowly averted his eyes. “Ah.. sorry..”
“Are you okay? What was that?” Arupek asked, tilting his head.
“I.. just got surprised..” Chaco said, weakly, standing back up and going to pick up the skateboard.
“No, that’s not it.” Ugh, of all times for Aru to be perceptive. “Wait, are you ticklish?”
Chaco’s head whipped around, bewilderment spread across his face. “Huh, ticklish?! Where did that come from?”
“Well, I thought maybe I accidentally tickled you, and that’s why you jumped like that! So is it?”
“..No. That’s not..” Chaco trailed off, before meeting Aru’s eyes, which looked way too happy for Chaco’s liking. Reflexively, Chaco took a step back.
“You ticklish, Chaco? It’s been ages since I’ve last had a tickle fight!” Arupek wiggled his fingers, inching closer.
“...” What is Chaco supposed to say to that?
Apparently nothing, because a second later, Arupek had leapt towards him, latching his hands to Chaco’s sides, squeezing relentlessly. Any responses Chaco could have come up with vanished as he curled inward, a smile forcing itself onto his face.
“A-Aru..!” Chaco gasped, biting his lip as he tried to push Arupek’s hands away.
“Tickle tickle~! Are you gonna laugh?” Arupek cooed in response as Chaco fell to the ground, trying to combat the ticklish sensations. Arupek, of course, followed, unwavering and adapting to the new position easily.
“G..Gahahah! Aru, wahahahait!” How unfair it was that Chaco was so sensitive on his sides like this. And like a dam, giggles flowed through his lips and he couldn’t stop them no matter what he did.
“Aww, your laugh is so nice! Where else are you ticklish?” The worst part was, it felt like Arupek didn’t even know what his words were doing to him, as the blush on Chaco’s cheeks worsened. Arupek was so genuine sometimes, Chaco didn’t know how to handle it.
“Hahaha, plehehehease!” Chaco cried, unable to remember the last time he had been tickled like this. Pocchaco liked to tease him, poking him in the side to be silly or to get his attention, but never like this!
Chaco squeezed his eyes shut, before remembering that it was a tickle fight. Meaning.. He could fight back, right? But then, he met Aru’s eyes again, and nearly died inside. Gah… but, there was only way to get out of this! Without wasting another second of hesitation, his hands met Arupek’s waist, as he tentatively kneaded at the skin. Even amidst all his laughter, he could see the gasp that left Arupek’s lips, momentarily shocked, before he started smiling again, beaming. Really, Arupek was too genuine.
Unfortunately, although it tickled him, Arupek didn’t give up just yet. So, the two wrestled on the grass, flipping one another as they both dissolved into hysterics when the other would find yet another spot that was effective. But finally, finally, when Arupek was atop of him, Chaco decided to try a spot that was definitely a gamble as it left him vulnerable, but if it worked….
Chaco raised his hands towards Arupek’s back, pressing into it as though he was giving the other a back massage. The effect was instantaneous, as Arupek faltered, his laughter turning up a notch. He buried his head into Chaco’s chest and Chaco gasped. There it was! His opening!
With all the strength he had, he flipped Arupek over once more, but this time, he had maneuvered himself so that he was sitting on Arupek’s back.
“Wait–” Arupek had started, before dissolving into loud, happy laughter when Chaco started digging into that very obviously bad spot on his back. Chaco couldn’t resist the urge to laugh along with him, feeling giddy upon hearing Aru’s laugh. It wasn’t the first time Chaco had heard him laugh, but it never became less mesmerizing to hear. Chaco kneaded his back, traced along his collarbones, scribbled along his spine– none of which was any less effective than the other, which Chaco noted in his head. He had finally gotten the upper hand, and he was not going to lose it.
Arupek was rendered defenseless because his mobility was limited due to.. Well, the structure of the human body while laying on his stomach. His legs kicked wildly behind Chaco.
“You’re really sensitive, huh?” Chaco chuckled and Arupek shook his head.
“You’re just as ticklish! Ahahahaha!” Despite the position he was in, it seemed as though Arupek was having a good time, considering his lack of resisting. Sure, he was moving around a lot, but it seemed to be out of reflex, rather than him actually trying to get out from Chaco’s ticklish attack.
“...Maybe, but I’m still the one winning hare, you know?” Chaco teased, emphasizing his point by poking Arupek in the back a few times.
After a few moments had passed, Chaco rolled off of Arupek, laying next to him, deciding that the winner was decided clearly enough to give Arupek a break. The other turned over, so he was laying on his back as well. After Aru had a moment to catch his breath, he groaned very loudly, catching Chaco off guard.
“Aru–”
“Gah! I always lose these fights! You were so ticklish I thought for sure I’d win this time!” Aru exclaimed and Chaco felt his face heat up again. How Aru could just throw that word around like it was nothing baffled him like nothing else.
“Well, I can see why you always lose.”
“You just got lucky! Trust me, next time, I’m definitely gonna win.” Even though Chaco was feeling a bit embarrassed that he had just had a tickle fight in the middle of nowhere with Arupek, he felt as though the other was rubbing off on him just a little, because he realized that the fact there may be a next time excited him. He stood up, stretching and picking up his skateboard.
“Come on, let’s get to Tuxedo Sam’s Kingdom now,” Chaco said, standing on the skateboard and waiting for Aru to join him. Arupek saluted before hopping on the board behind Chaco again, wrapping his arms around easily.
“Then we can find a nice restaurant! Ahh, what kind of ramen should I get this time..?” Arupek said, and Chaco only chuckled in response as the other began muttering different kinds of toppings for ramen.
Then, they set off once more, but of course, not without Arupek tweaking at his sides every so often. Chaco had a feeling this ‘next time’ Arupek had mentioned was going to happen much earlier than he anticipated.
