Hey There Delilah - Plain White T’s(Not actually a part of my playlist, but I was listening to it at the moment I got this ask and it was too perfect to pass up.)AU where Ayano moves to America and she and Shintaro continue to communicate via video calls/letters.  At some point she stops writing back though, and Shintaro thinks she forgot about him.  During this time he’s been working on a song for her but never had the courage to share it.  Eventually he finds out Ayano died (whether via accident or suicide, up to discretion), and he becomes a shut-in out of despair, lamenting that maybe if he had been by her side, he could’ve prevented it - and that in the end, she never got to hear her song…
