8) What kind of car they would drive.
I think Jess drives whatever car he can find that best fits within the category of: I have enough cash for this and it will run for awhile. How long it might run depends on how much he can afford to spend. He probably idly thinks about being able to buy something new whenever he’s trying to fix what he’s driving now or it’s broken down so catastrophically that he has to find another one, but it’s not really a focus let alone something that could be a reality(at least for a long time). Eventually he’s able to afford a commuter car and something classic. He’s not exactly a -car guy- but something catches his eye one day and he’s finally able to afford it and it’s a little bit of a piece of junk, but it’s got potential and he’s been writing successfully so long that he really needs something that feels like a different sort of challenge.
19) When they feel safest.
This one is tough. There are different kinds of feeling safe. Some cash and a car that runs? That’s enough for awhile there. That’s safety. Knowing that shit jobs might suck, but they’re out there and he can do that if he has to. Knowing he’s not trapped they way he was when he was growing up.
Luke eventually becomes safety somewhere down the line. The knowledge that even if he would probably rather sell a kidney on the black market than put up with Stars Hollow, he could go to Luke.
Safest? I think eventually he finds someone, whether that’s Rory or not, who he trusts without quite knowing why. Who he has the courage to get to know, even though it’s terrifying because he hates the involuntary urge to be vulnerable with that person. And when he gets to know them it turns out that trust isn’t unfounded. And he’s grown up enough to offer that back to that person, who feels the same way about him. Safest is when it’s just the two of them.
23) What kind of alcohol they drink.
I don’t think Jess is too picky about it. There are certain things he hates, but for the most part it depends on the venue, depends on what stage of his life he’s at. He usually sticks to beer or whiskey. Occasionally he’ll try something outside of that if someone else insists he has to try something. He’s worried occasionally about the history of addiction in his family, but he’s never found that alcohol is all that tempting to him in that regard. It can be fun if he’s in a decent mood, but if he’s already down it just makes it worse and he doesn’t find himself with an urge to drink in ways that would be a red flag.
