I am constantly complimented on this fine fashion accessory! Sarah Atkinson was making a dress out of her father's ties but stopped working on her neat hobby project mid-way through. She very kindly permitted me to have the ties, so I got in touch with my friend Greta who is knowledgeable about how things are sewn. She explained what the basic pattern of a satchel looks like, and my friend Katie taught me how to use a sewing machine. My goodness, sewing machines are the spawn of the devil! The foot pedal is outrageously sensitive, and the mechanisms that dispense the thread are infuriatingly finicky! How Katie ever found the patience to teach me anything is an astonishment. With determination, I managed to muddle through it and am very proud of the result.
