Tiffany heard from the grapevine that Riley came back after five years. Her heart beats and it echoes to her ears.
Anger boils inside, her veins and head felt hot.
Oh now she’s back? After what happened?
Why does she make it look very easy to just slip in and out of our lives!
She wants to tear her beautifully styled hair into a mess. Outside her face is schooled into a bored look, no one can tell the fire inside her burning.
How can others know she’s here before me?! Not to mention Declan! Declan of all people said it to me.
She chewed her lip as irritation grew inside her, the way Declan and Riley supposed to have some animosity between each other, it does not even make sense to her as to why Declan has to know first her arrival. It was eating her.
She’s outside of Lily’s family’s estate to celebrate her sister’s nearing wedding. The sun was nice on the skin, the breeze cools her pleasantly and she’s enjoying a flute of bubbling champagne. In which is about to snap when she sees Riley walking into the scene.
Her throat went dry and quickly took a sip of the drink in her hand. Her high heel moved but she caught herself right away.
What am I doing? Should I just ruin my day even more because of her?
Her plump lips pressed to one another with contempt and eyes could bore a hole to the newcomer. Indignation and pride stills her on the spot.
Riley looks clueless around her surroundings due to her own thoughts occupying her. She doesn’t even notice the beautiful bombshell in pink dressed to the nines that screams wealth and importance under the sun trying to potentially kill her with her pretty eyes.
The itching under Tiffany’s skin intensifies, she wants to pry open Riley right now to get her to look at her and see if there’s some semblance of attention and even shock she can inflict upon the clueless individual. Her face brightens instantly, seeing Riley disgruntled is a sight she looks forward to. She wants to make a statement that she doesn’t welcome her presence here at all but deep inside she wants to know what she’s been up to after Lily’s death.
Her heart once again panged loudly against her rib-cage but her face and walk mask it up. Her world felt like it went into slow motion each step. She can hear her heart beat and heels and everything else dissolves into a background murmur. Only one is clear in her sight is Riley.
Her expensive heels start to make a sound against the solid floor. Steady and polished, just like a model but the rhythm was interrupted when another blond like her entered her field of vision. Declan.
Him again.
Her mood turned sour, the acid burned the bubblegum aesthetic dissolving it partially along with her plan.
She cannot do anything about it as of the moment, but if she interrupted Declan, Riley will definitely turn into them both. And she did not plan to set things up towing Declan with her little scheme for Riley.
Waiving off her intention at the matter temporarily, Tiffany watched like hawk to the oblivious duo arguing like a married couple. Sneer ruins her face.
The two are both reaching a new height in their second time arguing. Riley rebutted how he doesn’t have to see if she’s able by herself. Tiffany heard her brother gloat to her and Riley’s eyes went red.
By this time she can actually snap the glass in her hand. She finds it unsightly how her brother illicit those expressions out of her, why him? Don’t they hate each other? Why can’t it be her? Only she should be able to ruin Riley Pierce’s day. She wants indignation and shock out of her.
“If you were so bothered by my presence here, then why did you even go here?” Riley held out her hand out of indignation.
Declan huffed. “I’m invited here, if you have forgotten. Or did you actually get concussed on your way here?” Venom drips from the aristocratic voice of Declan. “Maybe getting a place in the house quickly got into your head already—” Riley’s face turned grim from the wrong choices of words her brother had spattered.
Declan caught himself and turned sideways, huffing to mask the guilt. Smile played on Tiffany’s lips upon seeing her brother not finishing his sentence.
“Look Pierce, I apologize.” He paused and the girl’s face cooled into a blank state waiting for him. “I’ve been busy with work. Just to be clear I am not here for you, of course this is an event I would naturally be in this area too.” Rolling his eyes as the arrogance starts climbing back up. Tiffany looked at Riley, the other girl had appreciation in her eyes and seemed to lighten up, but it did not make Tiffany feel happy. Something sinister mixed with her initial anger towards Riley that boils the same. Her heart fluttered and felt suffocated. Her groomed brow knitted and she’s still staring at Riley.
That’s it? You could have gone lower and hit him where it hurts Pierce. She thought.
Venomous thoughts fill the bombshell’s head as her eyes went back and forth between them. She can’t take it that she feels like she’s losing.
Now Declan has less than an ounce of pride in him to accommodate Riley’s feelings and Riley, appreciating his smidge of decency.
Tiffany herself huffed. She finds it ridiculous and flicks the non-existing dirt under her acrylic nails.
Her brother looks awkward in front of a woman. Riley’s eyes are no longer trained on him and Declan has his own. His expression looks different.
He looks relieved and there’s a mix of something else in it.
Tiffany knows her brother and for sure that is not purely disdain anymore. She feels cheated and stupid just realizing how big this thing was and it was probably happening even before. But it’s a good thing that her brother is too emotionally constipated to tell what his actual feelings are.
“Well, enjoy the party. I’ll leave you now.” His tone is gentle and careful, not wanting to upset Riley further. Riley hummed cheerfully acknowledging his words. The tension that they usually have melted temporarily and Tiffany doesn’t like that. She could do that if she wants, but she won’t.
She had a whole plan and she didn’t even get to ruin Riley’s mood herself, instead her doofus brother snatched her chance and did what she was supposed to do and also shifted Riley’s mood for the better.
How dare you make it look easy, brother?
Another huff left her, she can outdo her brother, she will and she can. Riley is here after all. Her eyes almost helplessly looking over the pretty face of the girl. Oh how pretty she looks she wants to reach for her and make her succumb to her whims and more.
Emptying her glass, she motions to the nearest staff and the staff refill her glass without asking further. Now she has a stronger resolve to deal with Riley herself.
She doesn’t know what to say to her at all, but she already knows the ending of their conversation and it will be unpleasant. Even so, she wants her presence to be known to Riley and how remarkable she can be to her, unpleasantly.
Hyped with the champagne she strode forward letting her shoes clack loudly enough to get a head-turn from Riley. Her eyes slightly wide like a deer in a headlights. Tiffany feels flattered she’s about to make her day worse but at least it is because of her and not anyone else.
Goodluck Babe and its Tiff finally getting married to high society man she covetted for herself and she sees Riley, in lush green dress. She blends well and have uniformed face amongst the crowd. Happy. But Tiffany feel a hole bore in her heart seeing her happy for her.
