"Aster? Can you help find Chrystal? She came to work but...we don't see her anywhere. We're really worried."
It felt as though all the blood on her face had drained away with the words of the redhead's disappearance. This never happens, she had always been one on time, one who stays on top of things and never, never runs away from her problems. What could possibly be bothering her so much that she felt the need to be alone? To just breathe and bask in the loneliness of her own company? It didn't make sense to her, nothing made sense to the brunette.
Then again, Chrystal had always been a mystery, one difficult to decipher -- despite the amount of time they spend together, even living under the same roof, there are aspects to the female's life that Aster would love to know, yet, has never been granted the permission to do so. Absent-mindedly, she nodded and agreed to help their mutual friends/co-workers to find the female. Of course, she wouldn't say no.
Worries ran through her head, thinking of different things she could be doing alone. Was she safe? Was she...cold? It was getting late and the weather was starting to get a lot windier. Was she wearing a coat? Dear god, only if she knew where the girl was hiding. Brows furrowed, she walked around the area, calling out her name as if she was looking for a lost cat; oh the irony.
Her voice soft, almost like one of a mother singing lullabies for her firstborn; that was the only way she knew she wouldn't scare the girl. Without any responds, she sighed heavily and changed her direction completely. The beach. Where they first met. She should be there. The brunette recalled her rambling on about how it had become her favourite place, a safe haven almost. Without wasting much time, she ran, ran, and ran towards the beach, feet sank in the cold sand, searching frantically for traces of her.
Her brow optics then quickly focused on this figure with burning, bright red hair, it would seem as though she glowed in the dark -- that, or she was too thrilled to pieces that she finally found her. Finally made sure that she was safe. A relieved smile then appeared on her face, sinking her teeth on her bottom lip as she walked slowly, plopping beside her and nudged the redhead's side with her elbow.
"Hey. Why are you out here on your own? The moon looks prettier when you look at it with someone, not alone."
The girl turned to her, no trace of happiness left on her features, somehow, very different from the girl she knew. Instead, the corners of her lips tugged into a frown, not bothering to utter a word even if Aster attempted to keep the conversation going, to the point that she thought she was becoming a bother to her friend (roommate as well) already. With that, she allowed silence to linger between them for a while, until Chrystal bursted out the anger she seemed to have it bottled up.
"I'm in love with you, okay?"
--...What? Was she hearing that correctly? Surely, it was loud enough to be heard, oh dear, it was actually way too loud for two people. Aster looked at her, dumbfounded that these words would eve slip from her mouth. Eyes widened, she opened her mouth agape in hopes of saying something back, but it failed. She was rendered speechless. All she could do was reach out, grabbing her hand into hers and entwine their fingers together, smiling rather apologetically.
"Don't you think it's too soon...?"
