Christian nationalist pseudo-historian Tim Barton cheers on Trump's attack on the Smithsonian, saying the museums should not treat slavery a

Earlier this week, Right Wing Watch noted the likelihood that Christian nationalist pseudo-historian was involved in convincing the Trump administration to order a review of exhibits within the Smithsonian Institution to ensure that they conform to and reflect the administration's ideology.
This theory gained more credence when Barton himself admitted on today's episode of "The WallBuilders Show" that he "was up at the White House a week ago and I told them, by far, the most racist and most historically inaccurate museum in Washington, DC, by far, has got to be the museum on African American history."
On today's program, Barton and his son Tim claimed that Smithsonian museums are rife with "anti-American bias" and the exhibits are guided by a "modern Marxist approach" designed to portray "America as a fundamentally flawed and evil nation."
The Barton are particularly upset that the museums seem to have "an obsession with slavery."
"Yes, slavery was part of America's story, but that's not the defining part of America's story," Tim Barton said. "When the story is being told that this is the most significant thing for American history, it's a very dishonest and disingenuous approach because there's so much more to the story than the fact that we had slaves for less than 100 years in our nation's history. That should be really something celebrated that we had slavery for almost the least amount of time in any nation's history in the history of the world. That's a pretty big deal."

Right Wing Watch reported last month that Tim Barton, a national religious-right figure who follows in his father’s footsteps as a dispenser of false Christian nationalist history, had endorsed Dave Nissley, who was waging a challenge to a conservative leader of the state’s House Republicans in the state’s 100th legislative district. Nissley’s fell short in yesterday’s Pennsylvania primary. Incumbent Bryan Cutler, who has no Democratic challenger in the November election, won by a 54-46 margin.
Cutler had the backing of the county GOP committee, but Nissley was backed by the Citizens Alliance Pennsylvania, the state chapter of Gun Owners of America, and “far-right organizations from neighboring counties whose members detest the party establishment in Harrisburg,” including the Citizens Alliance Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Liberty Fund, the Berks County Patriots, and the PA Patriots Coalition. Rachel Wilson-Snyder, the county Moms for Liberty chair, attended the event at which Barton endorsed Nissley. Lancaster Online noted that right-wing groups, including FreePA, had also backed an unsuccessful primary challenger to Cutler in 2022.
LancasterOnline reported that Nissley’s challenge “benefited from a multi-year campaign” by MAGA activists unhappy that Cutler, who was speaker of the state house in 2020, had not used his position to flip the state’s electoral votes to Trump after Joe Biden won the state:

Christian nationalist Tim Barton was the featured speaker at a campaign event last week for Dave Nissley, whose primary challenge to the top Republican in the state House of Representatives is being backed by local far-right groups, Lancaster Online reported Monday.
“If we don’t start getting the right kind of people, who know there’s a God and know that we have God-given rights, and the role of government is to protect those rights, if we don’t start replanting those seeds, then our kids and grandkids won’t be able to enjoy the freedom that has been handed down to us over generations,” Barton said.
Nissley’s campaign reportedly paid Barton $10,000 to speak; Nissley said he did not know Barton would endorse him at the event. Rachel Wilson-Snyder, the county Moms for Liberty chair, also attended, according to Lancaster Online.
Nissley’s campaign website says he was inspired to run for public office after attending a 2022 event where right-wing radio host Eric Metaxas “challenged us to personally evaluate how we could give to others with what God has given us as individuals and as Americans.” In 2020, Metaxas emceed a pro-Trump “Jericho March” rally at which Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes threatened bloody civil war if Trump did not stay in power; Metaxas has become increasingly extreme over the years, saying that the mother of transgender activist Jazz Jennings would have been “burned as a witch” in “a civilized world,” denouncing Biden as “a puppet of the devil,” and declaring that the only difference between Biden and Hitler was that “Hitler was elected; Biden had to steal the election.”
Thank you Patriot Academy for the opportunity to learn so much about the legislative process, to grow my faith, meet some amazing people! Shout out to some seriously sleep deprived legislators. And an amazing committee Elizabeth Lewis! There were so many amazing speakers I learned more about God, Goverment, and business.
There wasn’t a ton of time to take pictures, but I got a few! Thank you Patriot Academy Team, Rick Green and David and Tim Barton WallBuilders, and the rest of the amazing speakers for pouring into the next generation so we are prepared to take the torch of freedom, and maintain it, so we can educate the next generation after us as we pass it on to them. Thank you Andrew Klavan, and Ben Shapiro from Daily Wire for calling in and talking to us!

There Should Be No Secular Institutions
Tim Barton, son of Christian nationalist pseudo-historian David Barton, is every bit the Christian nationalist his father is, declaring recently that there should be no secular institutions in America: "God never intended for education to be secular, for government to be secular, for business to be secular."
Something little bit different from me this time.
