Tim's...but not Tim's: Canadian in S. Korea spots fake Tim Hortons cafe
The logo on this cafe might look uncannily similar to Canadians, but don't be fooled - there is no Tim Hortons franchise in South Korea. But, as the CBC reports, that hasn't stopped people from wondering about this "Tim House," a yet-to-be-opened coffee shop in the Seoul neighbourhood of Daerim. The location was spotted by Canadian English teacher A.J. Specht and posted online. It soon caught the attention of other Canadians in South Korea, and people back home. The building's landlord told CBC he has never heard of Tim Hortons. The real Tims tells CBC that it is prepared to protect its trademarks.
[We are] thrilled that the Tim Hortons brand is loved and recognized around the world, but we’re always vigilant when it comes to protecting our intellectual property.
