For over a century, these spaces have been hubs for LGBTQ2+ communities. How can they prepare for new realities?
To be queer is to be different; queerness comes with a hyperawareness that most of the people in a room are not like you and some of them might even hate who you are. Gay bars eliminated that, allowing me to be in the majority—even if only for a night.
