oh lookie~ seems like i've lured another dirk into my lair~
"CD!"
Your name is Hal, and you are so done right now.
The process of making tea is definitely more stressful than it ever, ever needed to be, what with your shades filling up with line after line of glitchy crimson text, talking about “wanting to go back" and “not waking up". The anxiety would be overwhelmingly obvious, were there anyone else there with you; from the way you pace about the kitchen floor, jaw clenched and brows knit, trying desperately to console your friend, to no avail. It doesn’t take long before you’re ready to return to Danica’s room with a cup of fresh Earl Grey, chewing your lip as you carefully perch yourself on the edge of the mattress and offer him the cup.
No response. Of co–
"Hal."
The sound of an all-too familiar voice nearly startles you, and you send an apprehensive glance to the bot in the doorway, looming high over you even after she approaches and claims a seat on CD’s other side. A brief back-and-forth ensues between the two of you as you explain to Tex what just happened, watching and drumming your fingers against your thighs as she goes about removing what few sections of armor plating she didn’t take off at the door.
"CD, tell me what’s wrong," she says to your other companion, and she carefully maneuvers an arm to wrap around his shoulders and hold him close, wedged up to her side, and eventually he finds it in himself to relax against her, some of the tension in his expression melting away at the warmth radiating from the spar bot.
"I want Danica… I don’t want them, I want my Danica…"
The look you and Tex exchange is almost downright speechless, and you can practically see the gears turning in her head as she gathers her bearings again.
"She’s coming home soon, CD… even when she’s not here, you’re not alone. You’ve got us, me an’ Hal. We’ll always be here for you."
You worm your way higher onto the bed and curl up at his side, leaning on him and wrapping your arms around him to reaffirm Tex’s statement that you are, indeed, here for him, just like you always will be.
"We ain’t goin’ nowhere… ‘n soon we’ll be a family again. It’ll be as great as it always was, you’ll see," she murmurs, and with that, you feel his tention wane, and his breaths soften, and the harshness in the lines on his face, eventually, melt away.
Before you know it, you and Tex have him coaxed into slumber, practically clinging to the two of you as he rests peacefully, almost as if he’d never even woken up in the first place.
