Untitled 42, Tim Bailey
Tim Bailey is based at The Spacex Gallery in Exeter. He graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2007. His work is deeply influenced by Eastern aesthetics and perceptions of beauty, impermanence, the incomplete and the unknown. Drawing influence from the natural and man-made world, he pays special attention to the surface and fluidity of his paintings with suggestions of landscape (aerial and pictorial) and ‘the fleeting moment’. These deceptively physical panels express a need for human affiliation and a material humility

Untitled 75, Tim Bailey
My work is an on going project concerned with the nature of impermanence and ambiguity as in any fluid state. I draw insight from both eastern and western philosophies. I want my paintings to suggest simultaneously a sense of confusion and familiarity. Aerial photography, pictorial landscape, urban decay and other themes repeat themselves. I hope to offer the viewer a brief glimpse of a "fleeting moment". The physicality of my paintings underlies the work both metaphorically and literally. The wooden panels are made in a way that reveals their man made construction. In some the surfaces are worn down to create the illusion of ageing.
