I love pre-2020s slasher movies that are unapologetic in their lack of moral message & thirst for blood & also because sometimes the inbred hillbilly murderer freak with a prosthetic fucked up face be looking kinda good in a grimy nasty way that not even the villains in modern movies are allowed to 👀

I’m gonna be honest. Morally I’m against religious extremism but this fucked up inbred hillbilly family low key has a point because this couple was very annoying about not being married (hate the trope of a girl nagging a guy about marriage for years & him being a dick about it. you both suuuck) & this is definitely aesthetically the most romantic thing that has ever happened to them

like I can’t actually tell if this is really good propaganda for extreme Christianity or if we’re totally supposed to be rooting for the city couple & I’m just missing it ‘cause they suck but either way this movie is a blast

why is this movie trying so hard to get me to route for the irritating & pretentious city boy when I’ve been on team inbred hill billy freak’s side from second one. like I guess filmmakers don’t know this but southern accents are hot & slasher fans think with our pussies

I am actually incredibly forgiving of bad decisions in horror movies especially slashers if it serves the plot. But there is a difference between “I’m terrified & I’m making a split second decision in a panic” & “nothing THAT crazy has happened yet but we’re going to actively make sure to put ourselves in the worst possible situation for absolutely no reason”

(I’m watching Timber Falls (2007) & tell me WHY this dumb woman just made her man throw away all the bullets from his gun & he AGREED right after they met some very scary hillbilly guys & are aware they’re in the middle of nowhere surrounded by bears & such in a place they’ve been told repeatedly isn’t patrolled by rangers lmao)
