it is kind of funny how the Timberborn beavers are split into the faction of the hammer and the faction of the sickle, as if you could only do communism by choosing one

I got Timberborn on the Steam Sale. It's a nice change of pace from Dwarf Fortress

I just had my first FUN. 30 dorfs beavers died of starvation or thirst during my third drought. Iearned an important lesson about not trying to make a dam megaproject before I've secured a steady source of wood.

me: Okay, I can see where I can branch another river off this source and create a whole new green area. However, my beavers are not done scavenging metal scrap downstream. This is fine, I'll built a levee, blow the blockage at the top clear, and the water will just run down til it hits the levee and stop.

me: ...But just in case, I'll save first.

me: [blows the blockage]

the water: Hits the levee. Stops. Rises. Overflows the banks. Floods my entire southern district, which means my entire metalworks.

me: Thank god I saved. I think I will just... remove this levee... and not blow the top until my beavers are completely finished with that scrap metal.
