Luster!Dieter – Belts in the car, loudly and off-key. His favourite is Britney. But anything he listens to and likes with be sung along to with much (albeit tuneless) aplomb. Passenger princess, sunglasses on, hair askew and scream-singing to Spice Girls' Wannabe.

Hometown Honey!Frankie would only sing in the shower and only if he thought no one else is around. You come home and catch him one day, singing his heart out to Tom Jones on the radio and then for days make puns based on Tom Jones' song titles. He gets annoyed and rugby tackles you to make out on the couch to get you to shut up.

Palm Springs/Down This Chain of Days!Dieter – After exiting the loop, there is little PS!Dieter won't do in the name of enjoyment! Before the time loop, he wouldn’t have been caught dead singing karaoke, especially post-fame. But one of the things reader and Dieter did in the time loop must have been karaoke at the Lagoon Lounge, and after an eternity of living the same day, he now gives no fucks, and will belt Celine Dion’s “It's All Coming Back to Me Now” like he’s the diva herself. He will sing in the car and the shower too. So Palm Springs/Down This Chain of Days!Dieter is definitely now a “sing whenever his mood takes him” kinda guy.

BONUS BABE - Javi G would be someone who would say things like “No, linda, please I could not! I am too nervous to sing in front of other people,” but then absolutely crush it, given his typical enthusiasm (the only requisite for a good karaoke performance is COMMITMENT, rather than having a good singing voice, I will die on this hill), on a unexpected track like ’I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ by Whitney Houston.

Down This Chain of Days is a fic that just ate my brain and didn't stop until I finished it. When medieval saints write about seeing rhapsodic and trance-inducing visions of God, I was having that, but with Dieter in the desert, ha! (I adapted the film Palm Springs rather than thought of my own plot outright so that probably helped with having a clear blueprint.) All that to say --writing it all blurs together, but 3 scenes stick out:

Dieter's dancing at the wedding, marking his further introduction to his reader, and just being silly.

their night in the tent, and taking things to the next level, making their intimacy deeper physically and otherwise.

Also was really happy to write Dieter's big romantic speech / gesture. It's *the* rom com moment, and it was a fun challenge to make it Dieter's moment, rather than Andy Samberg's character's.
