Trick/Theorem: If ‘A‘ men can do a certain work in ‘X‘ days and ‘B‘ women can do the same work in ‘Y‘ days,

Then ‘A1‘ men and ‘B1‘ women together can complete the same work in 

Now, Apply This Time n Work Math Tricks on Time n Work Questions. So, Let’s solve a Question…

Q-1) 12 men can complete a piece of work in 32 days. 9 women can complete the same work in 40 days. In how many days will 16 men and 30 women together complete the same work ? a. 4 days b. 6 days c. 8 days d. 10 days

Solution:- 12 (A) men can complete a piece of work in 32 (X) days,

9 (B) women can complete the same work in 40 (Y) days.

16 (A1) men and 30 (B1) women together can complete the same work in –

Now apply Time n Work Tricks

Now put, A=12, X=32, B=9, Y=40, A1=16 and B1=30

[16 (A1) men and 30 (B1) women together can complete the same work in 8 days.]

Time and Work Shortcut Tricks – Maths Aptitude Tricks (Tricks no 7)

Theorem/Trick:- If ‘A‘ and ‘B‘ can complete a work in ‘X‘ days,

‘B‘ and ‘C‘ can complete the same work in ‘Y’‘ days,

‘C‘ and ‘A‘ can complete the same work in ‘Z‘ days.

Then, ‘C‘ alone can complete the same work in 2/( - 1/X + 1/Y + 1/Z) days.

Let’s solve a Time and Work Question….

Q-1) If A and B can complete a work in 10 days, B and C in 15 days and C and A in 20 days. Then, In how many days C alone can do the same work ? a) 12 days b) 20 days c) 60 days d) 120 days

Solution:- Here, ‘A’ and ‘B’ together can complete a work in 10 (X) days,

‘B’ and ‘C’ together can complete a work in 15 (Y) days,

& ‘C’ and ‘A’ together can complete a work in 20 (Z) days.

Now apply Time and Work Shortcut Tricks:- ‘C’ alone can complete the same work in  2/( - 1/X + 1/Y + 1/Z) days.

So Now Put, X=10, Y=15 and Z=20

= 2/( - 1/X + 1/Y + 1/Z) days

=2/( - 1/10 + 1/15 + 1/20) days

=2*60/2 days

=60 days

Your answer c) 60 days. [ So ‘C’ alone can complete the same work in 60 days.]

Time and Work – Shortcut & Tricks & Theory – Solve without Pen or Paper (Trick no. 2)

Trick/Theory:- If ‘A’ and ‘B’ complete a work in ‘X’ days and ‘A’ alone can complete the same work in ‘Y’days.

Then, ‘B‘ alone can complete the same work in XY/(Y-X) days.

Trick/Theory 2:- If ‘A’ and ‘B’ complete a work in ‘X’ days and ‘B’ alone can complete the same work in ‘Y’days.

Then ‘A‘ alone can complete the same work in  XY/(Y-X) days.

So two theory are same. So let’s solve some time and work questions……

Q-1) A and B together can complete a piece of work in 15 days and A alone in 20 days. In how many days can A alone complete the work? a) 25 days b) 30 days c) 40 days d) 60 days

Solution:- Here A and B complete a piece of work in 15 (X) days,

and A alone complete the same work 20 (Y) days.

So now apply this time and work tricks:- B can complete the same work in  XY/(Y-X) days.

Now Put, X=15 and Y=20

= XY/(Y-X) days

=15*20/(20-15) days

=15*20/5 days

=3*20 days

=60 days

Your answer d) 60 days. [B can complete the same work in 60 days.]
