This old crane has been sitting at this location in my hometown since I was a child. When I came across it again, seeing it just sitting there, stuck and lost to time, it reminded me of Spinel.

I drove by it a couple of days ago and the owners have cleared away the brush from it! If I can get a picture I'll post it!

Were you conscious when you were in the amber or was it more like being asleep?

Conscious, but thing were distorted and fuzzy, almost dream-like. But it seemed as if very little time passed, even though I know it was just over a year. I feel bad that I wasn’t able to help my son in his time of need thanks to the amber.

I just took the TOVA medicated for the first time. Almost with 20 minutes of taking the medication, the noise in my head calmed. I didn't have to say everything that came to my mind and do ALL the things. I won't get the results of my evaluation for a few days, which means I've got to manage my brain until then. I'm 21, female, and no one even suggested ADHD until 5 months ago. I feel like this might be an answer but it's so much... it's another diagnosis and it's scary. Tips?

 Come to accept that ADHD is not negative and having it is not a bad thing. Figure out why you would want a diagnosis. Therapy, confirmation, or something else? Because if diagnosis is the only reason you want to avoid, depending on your situation it might not be necessary. I will always recommend you get one just in case though.

Any tips for writing a passage of time in a novel. I have the first part of my novel but I want to skip ahead a few months without having to write "4 months later..."

Hiya! Thanks for your question. Stories that jump around in time can be disorienting to readers. So, good on you for asking this question to prevent that!

Writing Stories that Take Place Over Long Periods of Time

The best way to show a change in time (in my opinion), is to display the new date at the top of the chapter/section. This will clearly state to your readers that the story has skipped ahead in time. You could also describe in one of your opening paragraphs that “months passed” or “time flew by”, any sort of description along those lines. Another direct way to show the change in time, is by having a character ask for the date (maybe they’re filling out a form), look at a calendar/clock, or even remark that X amount of time has passed since a specific event or that there’s only X amount of time left before a specific event. An entire year can pass in a single sentence.

However, if you want to use a more subtle approach, you can always describe the environment. If enough time has passed, the outside world has probably changed. Is there snow on the ground? What colour are the leaves? How long does daylight last? Do stores have decorations for a particular holiday on display? You can even consider mentioning if there are school buses driving around the streets.
