my new app, the Breathington App, started almost a year ago as a tiny sketch of Chonky.

along the way, that sketch turned into Chonky B. Breathington, and then into a real app with breathing patterns, environments, sound, and a whole visual world around it.

it’s always nice when something makes it all the way from rough idea to an actual finished project :D

here’s the basic idea behind Breathington App:

choose a breathing pattern, press start, and follow along with Chonky through inhale, hold, and exhale.

it’s designed to be simple, friendly, and easy to use whenever you want a little reset.

Straw Panting

Take a deep breath in through an imaginary straw, let the air fill you up and then release big 'pants' like a dog and feel your diaphragm pushing with each pant. Focus on working your diaphragm as hard as you can.

Timed Breathing

Count in your head as you breath in and out. Breath in for four, hold for four and begin on breathing out for four. In, two, three, four, hold, two, three, four and out, two three four. (click you fingers if it helps). Repeat the exercise and as you go try breathing out for longer but keeping the breathing in and holding of the breath at 4 each. Build up by two count or four, depending how easy it feels and focus on making your breath last for those counts.
