I created a playlist tonight called “thankful”…it consists of the Kruger Brother’s “Carolina in the Fall”, Yonder Mountain String Band’s “River” (it’s about a river), Johnny Cash’s “Grandfather’s Clock”, Johnny Cash & Bob Dylan’s “Girl from the North Country” and Old School Freight Train’s blugerass cover of Wilco’s “When you wake up feeling old”…that’s about genesis of this little experiment**…I’m hoping for catharsis in this medium. Hope is a drug, but I believe it be a blessed one.
Dad told me that the OSFT song “captured my personality”. Deal, Dad, deal…
I suggest that anyone who’s willing create a similar playlist. The inspiration is that I was challenged (in one of these “generous with advice, short on practicality” pointers for happiness in your life) to come up with a list of 10 things you’re thankful for and repeat them to yourself every morning. The intent was that list should change but should always be written down for the sake of permanence. Of course that habit hasn’t materialized. But I did make the playlist, and I do use it as inspiration many mornings. I think the process of searching, remembering, and finding those things for which you are thankful is the fruitful and liberating aspect of the exercise. The list will grow (and maybe shrink) but I hope to always take great care in its cultivation. Good luck!
**actually it’s a second time, first one had some technical difficulties (v2)
