It's true. There's all kinds of good in you - like Mister Roger's said, "We all have different gifts, so we all have different ways of saying to the world who we are." It's also true that not all of us are good at accepting compliments. Women especially, according to the research (and also get fewer compliments for the same level of work, particularly women of color, which is a major issue). There's some benefit to learning how to be good at it, whether the compliment is from someone you love, a stranger, an instagram account (hi!) or from yourself. Research shows that meaningful praise can measurably boost motivation and performance and can improve your brain’s ability to remember and repeat new skills. You also may be taking your positive attributes for granted since they're so familiar to you.
