It’s been a long few years since he last stepped foot in this city, and the biting cold is only convincing him that it’s actually a bad idea. He already misses home, but he misses Jack more and he’s willing to have to put on a few extra layers if it means he finally gets to see him rather than have too-short phone conversations at weird times. 

He’s stood, scowling, with his hands pushed as far into his pockets as they’ll go and his shoulders hunched right up when he finally spots him. Properly, this time. None of that ‘wanted’ nonsense that happened a few days back-- and caused him no small amount of trouble personally, thank you, Jack.

Deke manages to smile, despite chattering teeth-- the South’s made him soft-- and gives a jerk of the head in greeting.

      ‘ Hey, bro. Mugshot doesn’t do you justice. ’
