The US Marine Corps was what one James Rhodes lived in breathed for the last few years of his life, aspiring to be a fully licensed aviation engineer in the coming months. Deployments were not something that was new to the young soldier, but it would never get easier. James was a soldier with a conscious. Taking a life if the mission required it was not a complication, but the ever lingering guilt only grew as the death toll grew higher.
Hell, if he wasn't happy to be back in the states. It had been an eight month deployment, far from his longest, but still long enough to weight heavily on him. Spending some much needed R and R in his old room upstairs in his parents house was enough to melt even the worst of someones stress, but he felt it was time to pay an old friend a visit. What better way then to drop by and surprise him? The soldiers knuckles rapped on the mansions front door, dressed to the nines in his service uniform, and grinning like a mischievous little kid.
That is, until a young little thing answered the door, his expression tanking to that of hardly restrained surprise. Wha-? His eyes darted around the large property. Yep, definitely Stark's place. Who in the hell- Oh god. He knew Tony liked them young, but this seemed a bit out of character. What was she doing here? And still fully dressed?
"Good evening, miss, I don't believe we've met." He started, smiling warmly at the young girl. "James Rhodes, I’m an old friend of Tony's. Who might you be?"
