16 years ago.

Qrow had always liked Beacon. Liked it since he first arrived actually. His first impression was that of a castle or palace. Something that would last forever even after all life was gone from the world; especially against all the tents and makeshift shacks or hovels they’d stay in. Not to mention the three hot square meals a day and warm soft beds every night was a hell of a boon.

This place held many treasured memories, of friends and a family he made, but Qrow wasn’t here to reminiscence. He was requested here by Ozpin. On his day off no less. Must have been important if the old man wanted him here at the earliest possible convenience. Qrow planned to spend the day with his toddler niece, but when the headmaster called you specifically, it wasn’t exactly polite to decline.

So on a Thursday morning at nine on the dot, Qrow entered the foyer area of the Beacon tower, called the elevator then punched in the button for Ozpin’s office perched above.

Why do I feel like I’m on my way to a detention? He wondered, staring up at the ceiling.

     This was certainly a surprise.  It wasn’t often Blake would get a visit from her headmaster, and she had never been presented a gift from him.

     “Uh...thanks Professor Ozpin.  What’s the occasion?”

That didn’t bode well. The Headmaster gave a long sigh and hesitated before responding–

“Tell me what’s wrong. I can… Try my best, To help you.”

The male shrugged his shoulders for a moment. there was nothing James can do about any of this. So shrugging it off, just help.

“--Beside the pain that is going throw  my body? The headache I have? it’s nothing from the normal stuff Oz.”
