❝Huh? What is a girl like you doing out here so late? Where are your parents?❞

(( Ahh, I'm not sure if I sent this before, but I just wanted to let you know that I reread through your rules! ))
//I’m not sure either, but thank you! ^_^

Small fingers clutched tightly to the blanket that lay sprawled messily across her bed. Her kicking, and flailing about had resulted in throwing it over the edge of the mattress, half of it spilling over to pile on the floor. She hadn’t meant to wake Alvin up, if she had, she didn’t even realize her screams had been vocal, but the burning in her throat stood as proof that it hadn’t just been in her mind.
Of course Alvin had come barging into the room, and as she stared up at his panicked face, she couldn’t help the pang of guilt that pierced her heart. Surely this was not what he was expecting when he agreed to watch over her for a few days. Tighter her fingers dug into the blanket, turning her knuckles white. She could still see the shadows dancing in the corner of her vision. Ghosts of the nightmares. The people who had stolen her childhood. She couldn’t remember her parents, but she would never forget these people. They would continue to haunt her every night.
Tears stung her eyes as she tried to force them back, and for a second she was nearly overcome with the need to spring from the bed, and cling to the older male. Instead, she pushed the tears back, giving her head a gentle shake.
◜❀ ◞ – “ I - I know they aren’t really here now. I - I just – I’m sorry, Alvin. “
Alvin took in the state of the bed and Elize’s lowered eyes. Poor kid. She was always so tough, no matter how gentle she acted. How many times had she woken screaming with no one to find her?
He crossed over to sit on the edge of the bed next to her, and looped an arm around her to pull her against his side. Maybe it was reassurance for both of them. He’d been sound asleep himself, and the thought of anything happening to Elize was terrifying.
“Nothing to be sorry about. Think anyone would scream if they dreamed about those guys. Maybe even me.”
