Looking forward to a weekend reset after kicking off orientation for residency!
I have 2 more weeks of orientation & I’m alternating between feeling extremely nervous and excited about starting intern year.
I’ve been decompressing after being blasted with information every day by squishing the cat when I get home.
“I wanted to be able to get all of my thoughts out (TG told me it would help...) so I found this video recorder uh... somewhere... I don’t actually remember where...”
(Timmy is now available for asks!)
"i mean where would we be without pens?"
in a movie full of great scenes, this just might be my favorite. everything about it is perfect. it goes from hilarious to horrifying to hilarious again in the span of two minutes
my apologies for hornyposting once again but now that marty supreme is out on digital i can confidently say that it has the most appealing-to-my-tastes-in-particular spanking scene in cinema history. just absolutely perfect. my only critique is that it should have been longer and there should have been more tears/begging. otherwise it has everything i look for- emphasis on the humiliation aspect, the beating is actually shown on screen in graphic detail, the character being beaten is very reactive, the power dynamic between the two characters + the reason for the beating is appealing, theres an erotic element despite it not being intentionally sexual, etc. you'd be shocked by how few mainstream films have anything remotely like this despite spanking being smth that has always captured the imagination
anyway if you havent seen marty supreme already you should def check it out. great movie
theres a lot you can say about call me by your name as a film but the thing that stands out most to me nearly a full decade later is how amazing it is to see twenty year old timothee chalamet completely eat armie hammer's lunch right in front of him in every scene. just remorselessly actingmogs him. youngest best actor oscar nominee in eighty years for a reason. thats why they invented the term 'x factor'. hammer's as stiff as a board bc his head was spinning from getting circles run around him
truly an incredible assortment of outfits here. momoa fresh off the plane from morocco, villeneuve on his way to a wedding after party, chalamet closet cosplaying amelia earhart, and zendaya wearing a piece from ed gein's 1954 collection
If you are going to continue timmy posting I'm going to continue timmy asking. What are the kind of projects you wish to see him in going forward? I like everything disturbing so I'd like to see him have another crack at horror or thriller, play a villain. I'm haunted by the vision of him torturing some poor "ostensibly straight" man until he loves him for example...
Much to think about.
this is such an excellent question. thank you for asking it!
i'd also love to see timmy take more villainous or at least morally dubious roles. this is part of why im so excited for the final dune movie. i cant wait to see the god emperor of mankind, murderer of billions, as played by chalamet
but heres the thing: timmy is a leading man and antagonists are, by definition, supporting characters. timmy does not play supporting characters anymore, he doesnt take second billing, and it'll be a while before he does again. so even tho hes the leo dicaprio of his generation, we're not going to be seeing him play a calvin candie type scene-stealing villain any time soon. very sad for me bc i'd kill to see him as the baddie in smth. maybe if that movie spike lee wants to do with him ever materializes it'll happen...
morally dubious characters, like marty mauser from marty supreme, and villain protagonists, like paul atreides from dune, are still on the table tho!! and ive actually thought a lot about which roles of this type i'd kill and die to see him play
on the top of the list is a young vincent hanna. this is the role chalamet was born to play. al pacino literally agrees with me. i cannot overstate how good timmy would be as everyones favorite coked out of his mind lapd officer. im certain that timmy can quote heat back to front and would fall over himself to work with michael mann. so...mr mann...if youre listening...do the right thing and cast chalamet as vincent hanna in heat 2. im begging on my knees here
i'd also love to see timmy as lancelot, one of my personal fav villain protagonists, if they ever decide to make another film adaptation of the camelot musical. i know lancelot is meant to be a baritone but who cares. chalamet's perfect for the part bc hes french, beautiful, and comes across as arrogant to the point that others want to harm him. i can just imagine him singing c'est moi. but, more importantly, i can imagine him singing if ever i would leave you aka one of the most romantic songs ever written. all of the girlies who miss him playing a romantic lead would be thrilled beyond words
if chalamet was british, i'd want him to play dorian grey. his british accent in the king is pretty mid but maybe a good accent coach could help him improve? who knows. accent aside, i think he'd do great as dorian. we're overdue for an actually good adaptation of the picture of dorian grey anyway
and then theres prince felix yusupov. i mean...its obvious. they look unbelievably similar. if youre not familiar with the name, felix was the man behind the infamous assassination of rasputin. he lived a strange little life, was one of the few russian nobles who survived the communist revolution, and was overall batshit crazy. he thought he had mystical powers. hes also the reason movies have to put that 'this is a work of fiction and anything similar to irl is a coincidence' notice in the beginning bc he sued a hollywood studio for lying about him. crazy bastard. he was also queer which is pretty cool. timmy would kill as this freak imo
those are all the specific roles i have in mind for timmy. less specific roles i think he'd be good in include being a jewish mobster and/or the son of a character played by jeremy strong. both at the same time would be great. i'd also like to see him do more comedies as hes very funny and do more historical dramas! i want to see him in ancient greece or rome...maaaybe he could play octavian? he'd have to dye his hair but i think he can make it work
i want to see him work with paul thomas anderson and/or martin scorsese one day bc i know they'd come up with great parts for him to play and he'd really excel under their direction. scorsese seems quite fond of him after the bleu de chanel campaign they did together so it'd be nice to see them reunite
^ timmy as prince felix yusupov trying to convince other russian nobles to help him kill rasputin
i like your idea a lot too. it kind of reminds me of the character christopher meloni played in oz. tho i dont think chalamet is capable of being physically intimidating when around other men so it'd have to be a much more psychological role then meloni's. he'd be very good at that
