Week 79, Monday, August 10, 2026 🌸
I’m currently traveling; we chose a cold city as our destination. The weather here is very pleasant. I’m wearing all the lovely cold-weather clothes I don’t get the chance to wear in the hot city where I live.
Consequently, as you might imagine, I’m unfortunately not studying very much.

Leaning into summer every minute that I'm not at work.
Flipflopping between "scripted phrasebooks are in credibly useful tools for autistic healthcare workers" and "scripted phrasebooks make me feel like some kind of empathy robot"
I think I'm gonna have to start including "I don't always pick up on jokes/sarcasm" in my "btw I'm autistic" pitch. It was a problem during surgery rotations but I thought that was just surgery culture. But now I'm at a GP office and it's also being an issue here. I'm just hesitant because like, I do pick up on sarcasm and jokes about 70% of the time and I don't want people to think they have to walk on eggshells around me. I have a sense of humor, I understand dark humor, I just don't always pick up on it and that is what frustrates me.
Will try posting more but can't say anything more 😭
