There’s a graphic novel that lives in my head called “This Is Not An Adventure” about a girl who somehow was transported to a fantasy world when she was fifteen. She had her middle grade book fantasy adventure and then… never left. She grew up there. Got married to one of her adventuring friends. Had kids. And then somehow, she was sent back home.
but the book takes place after that. When she’s back to her “real” life. Not only is she still coping with the PTSD she had from her adventure, any medication or support she had is gone. In fact, everything is. She’s trapped in the body of a fifteen-year-old, no one knows why she’s different, she can’t tell anyone. She’s in an alien world.
