From our friends at the National Restaurant Association: Covid-19 Update as of March 22, 2020 The restaurant industry has lost more then 3 million jobs and $25 Billion dollars since March 1, 2020 The industry employs 10% of the entire US work force (15.6 Million People) 7 in 10 restaurants owners have laid off employees and reduced hours and 50% anticipate doing this in the coming days and weeks. 3% have permanently closed, 11% anticipate closing in the next 30 days. 44% have closed temporarily during this.
