Gimme ten Thierre facts!

YOU GOT IT

1. Thierre has six piercings in each ear, all of which he got gradually over time as an act of rebellion in his youth. He doesn’t wear six earrings per ear much anymore, mostly because it’s a hassle to keep track of them all and because he forgets to, but he will occasionally alternate what he wears (while always keeping something dangly in the main lobe piercing).

2. He hadn’t celebrated a birthday properly since his mother’s mother’s death when he was young. Valerine would send a letter and something practical to his house.When he served on the frontlines during the Dragonsong War, the soldiers in his unit would save him extra rations or manage to save some coins to purchase a pastry from Coerthans or hunters in Dravania. When he left Ishgard, he and Haurchefant would have some soup or stew every year on their birthdays. His 31st was quite lonely.

3. Thierre is very terrified of ghosts and undead. 

4. His blindness is actually something I want to address on this blog because I don’t talk about it much! The circumstances are... quite mysterious. He claims it was an illness that eventually took some of the members of his mother’s side of the family, and there is some partial truth to this. He is LEGALLY blind, but he’s not complete and totally without sight. Kanami has taught him ways to manipulate surrounding aether in order to see, but it drains and exhausts him, so it’s something he does sparingly or in moderation until he gets better at it.

5. He possesses the echo but I haven’t quite solidified the extend of its manifestation.

6. He plays a variety of stringed instruments, the piano, a few brass instruments, sings, but doesn’t gravitate toward percussion or wind instruments.

7. Cartography interests him but he doesn’t have much time to dedicate to learning it proper. He just likes to draw on maps to accentuate landforms and points of interest. Adding to that, he has a knack for doodling and keeps a variety of journals of his thoughts and notes of the various places he’s been. He’s quite the scatterbrain at times.

8. Thierre is an extremely skilled archer, and quite the proud bard! He has a ritual he performs when he takes care of his bow, and lovingly cleans and restrings it. The atma stage of the original relic is the bow he uses and has had it since taking up the way of the bard. He has also recently begun training as a Red Mage so that he can better understand his connection to magic. 

9. Presently, he is the happiest he’s every been. His demons nag him a lot less, his past hurts a lot less, and he’s grateful to have the one that made that possible by his side.

10. Thierremonte Formell is the living embodiment of the trope “chronic hero syndrome.”

he’s not very different from canon but I dearly loved filling in the gaps of his spotty backstory and honestly I love that y’all are so accepting of this because I never felt I could be super open about this back when I conceptualized this whole big idea
