@aspecardaweek: The Sisters of Tar-Súrion: Ílien and Tinwiel.
Ílien was the eldest child and heir presumptive of Tar-Anárion; she was born in SA 1152, during the reign of her grandmother, Tar-Ancalimë, the First Ruling Queen of Númenor. Under the laws passed during Tar-Aldarion’s reign, she should have been next in line for the throne after her father-- however, not until the reign of her brother would the Council of the Sceptre vote to repeal the provision that the female heir be married with child in order to inherit. This meant that when her father ascended the throne as Tar-Anárion, he named instead her younger brother to succeed him. However, Ílien was glad of it, as she, like her niece Tar-Telperiën, was not one for marriage, and preferred instead to devote herself to the observance of the ancient rites and rituals of their nation.
Tinwiel was the second child of Tar-Anárion; she was born in SA 1165, during the reign of her grandmother, Tar-Ancalimë, the First Ruling Queen of Númenor. She, too, had a claim to the Sceptre that took precedent over that of her brother; however, having seen the way her grandmother was so embittered towards marriage, she decided to renounce it also, and thus her place in the succession. She was known to have taken several lovers, all of whom her grandmother vehemently objected to, fearing these dalliances would blossom into romance and marriage. However, Tar-Ancalimë worried for naught-- to none would Tinwiel wed, though she tired of her grandmother’s scolding so much that she would sail away to live instead amongst their kin in Eriador.
