Silver lining
So, I’m stressed out. One of my favorite people is sick and we don’t know why. Girl Scouts started last night. Cookie sales are a thing that’s happening. Liz’s school might be closing. (!!!SHIT!!!) And this is all on top of my regular adult obligations, work stress, a tighter budget than usual, and our country’s attempted descent into fascism.
I didn’t sleep well last night.
Anyway, this morning when I got to work, I got settled in at my desk and opened up my travel mug. I took a drink of coffee, and...it. was. perfect.
Through some miraculous combination of coffee, cream, weather, and time, I had the PERFECT cup of coffee at the PERFECT temperature.
It turned my brain into a tumblr aesthetic moment! It takes a lot to do that, especially lately.
I savored that first drink. I dropped the tension in my shoulders, felt the heat, tasted the bitterness and the creaminess, set the mug down, and let out a sigh of relief.
And then I pounded the rest of it, because let’s be honest, I’m pretty much a zombie today.
