7: What dates from 2014 will forever be etched into your memory?
I’m not very good with dates, but the day that my robotics team won the Chairman’s award will forever be a memory I will cherish. Also my time at Worlds will be something that I always remember. That’s about it for 2014.
8: What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I think just being strong this year was big for me, because I’ve been through some rough times in 2014. My mom went through a period of depression when my brother left for basic training, and I helped her through it. I also had trouble with realizing what sexual orientation I was, which was eventually solved when I realized that I was asexual (I had only just realized that that was an orientation that other people had, not just me). So yeah, it was a crazy year.
9: What was your biggest failure?
I wasn’t friendly enough to people, and I didn’t show enough respect to those who deserved it. That is something that’s complicated to talk about, so I won’t.
16: What song will always remind you of 2014?
I think Coldplay’s Everything’s Not Lost will remind me of 2014, because it was the song I listened to when I went through my time of depression, and my mom’s time of depression. It’s such a hopeful song, and the title says everything about it. It could get my through just about everything, as that band has done for me in the past.
29: What one thing made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Looking back, I think finally finding a place among friends in my school made the year so much more satisfying. I finally started getting invited to parties and other events, finally found a group of friends that I could call close and look to when times are hard, and found people that care about me as a person. So I guess long story short, I got accepted. It really is the best feeling.
I got carried away writing this, as I always do, because conveying my thoughts through text is one of my favorite pass times. Thanks for the ask!
