☾Kil knew that she had concerned everyone who knew her, disappearing for half a week without a word. Since she wasn’t allowed to have a cellphone she hadn’t been able to call in and Maader hadn’t cared to try and make an excuse to the school as to why she had been absent. She’d gotten beat up pretty bad in a deal gone wrong and sprained her wrist, so she’d taken a few days to recover enough that she could at least lie to cover it up.☽
☾She was clearly different than usual however, her right hand in a makeshift sling, walking with the slight hesitance of having just recovered from a limp. One of her cheeks was slightly discolored from cheap foundation, which wasn’t the right tone for her skin, that covered up the blue tint of a bruise and one lip still had a scab from when it had been busted. Still, these things were minor, if someone asks she could explain them away with any of the excuses she’d been thinking up for the past few days.☽
☾She had to face Kaz first because her locker was in the same place as his and because she shared a bunch of classes with him, and though she was happy to see her best friend again, she wasn’t looking forward to having to lie to him. The other’s she didn’t feel bad lying to, after all they were just nice people that she knew, it’s not like she’d promised to be truthful with them, it wasn’t like they were her best friend. The fact that Kaz thought he knew her, thought that she didn’t have any big secrets, but knew nothing about her life upset her greatly. He deserved to know the truth but of course for his safety he could never know, the best thing she could ever do for him would be to disappear forever but of course she was far too selfish for that.☽
☾Once she spotted him at his locker, she gathered her books and made her way over to him, waving casually as if she hadn’t been gone for three days without a word.☽
