New Phantom Ramblings post >:), this is a strange one. For the 150 years of the Palais Garnier, here in Italy, we have a story inspired by PotO on the Topolino magazine.
I learned about this from this post by @ineffablekink (ty btw) and was really curious, so I bought the magazines (the story is divided into 2 acts, sly… Really sly)

It is really cute, I really like the designs of the different characters.
- Raoul de Gastogny: doesn’t really do much here, ngl (like his 1989 and 1990 counterparts lmfao). Tho I love his design <333
- Paperine Daaè: obviously Daisy (here called Paperina). I really like her too, really chill about the whole Phantom deal (you’ll see why).
- The directors (Left: Moncharmin Du Paperon, Right: Rockchard Firmin): these two at first hate their guts, because the want to be the only owner of the opera house. Funny af. Firmin rigged the “contract” and that’s why he was able to take a part of the Opera House.
- Paperoga (I’m not really fond of his design): here he still works for the shah and is his ambassador. He is instructed to bring Erik’s opera to the shah (an opera about THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, lmfao)
- Ameliotta (with a pet crow <3): she is an asshole and tried to poison Christine (like her 1990 counterpart). She can sing well only because she uses a potion (and the crow is a familiar, so she’s a witch? Idk)
- The Phantom/ Erik Leroux (heh, I do like that they gave him Gaston Leroux’s surname)/ Donàld: not disfigured. Used to compose for the shah, lost his inspiration so he started travelling around the world and stopped here, working with Bouquet, to see music from another prospective. Saw the unjust acts of Carlotta and Firmin and decided to create the OG to bring them to justice (strange, really strange haha)
I do really like the Phantom’s design <333. As you can see this story goes on it’s own way and is not totally an adaptation. I enjoyed the nods to the musical.

As I said I do like these designs, so I’ll probably try to draw something about this while trying to stay more close to the original story.
