4 Study Guides That Will Improve Your Study Habit Even Better
Final exams are approaching? Don’t worry, studying will never be the same again with the ultimate study guide. Here are 4 effective study guides, because an all-nighter mode isn’t always the best solution.
✎ STUDY SMART, NOT HARD.
1. Engage your eyes. Use a different highlighter for each category. Let’s say for example, blue for names, pink for dates, (if you’re studying History) and then green for keywords. If you are this type of person, you’re doing well!
2. Assemble a reward system. For every 3-5 pages you’ve successfully read, have a piece of candy or whatever motivate you the most. This is effective, I swear!
3. Listen. If you’re the type of person who study whilst listening to music, you must listen to instrumental songs rather than there’s a singer who sings because it is a distraction while you are studying. Try instrumental songs or an instrumental version of your favorite song/s, gather them all and make a playlist about it.
4. Get chatty. Huddle your friends and have a group study together and make-up some little quiz show. That’ll make your group study more fun!
my tips on doing homework & studying
I always study after class because it is a must in order for you to remember all the things that you’ve learned for today. I know that you’ve went through a very tiring day but you really need to motivate yourself to study! Here are my tips while doing homeworks or studying;
1. Freshen up after you got home from school. Since it’s really hot in our country, it makes me more stressed to study because I’m sticky and sweaty! I always like to take a quick bath to freshen myself! It makes me clean and also motivates me!
2. Prepare snacks or finger foods. Who doesn’t like eating? Eating snacks or finger foods while studying is actually good but remember to pick foods that are healthy and can help on studying. Like nuts, berries, fresh fruits or salads. Avoid eating junk foods though.
3. Keep yourself hydrated. Always have a jar of water near you or a cup of water. Keeping yourself hydrated helps you to focus. You can also drink tea or healthy smoothies. I don’t recommend you drinking coffee though because it does make you feel energized after drinking it but after that feeling it makes you feel weak. So only drink healthy ones or just drink water.
4. Create a to-do list. After preparing your snacks and drinks. Create a checklist that will tell you everything you need to finish this day. It’s also nice to have a planner but in my opinion, checklists or to-do list are easier for me. Mark the ones that you need to prioritize or the one that needs to be finished already.
5. Do your homeworks first I always do my homeworks first before studying or rereading my notes. So you won’t get worried while you’re studying.
6. Organize your notes. After doing my homeworks, I always organize, rewrite and study my notes. I have a notebook per subject that is really messy and when I get home I rewrite it orderly in a sheet of paper in order for me to study it carefully. Organized notes helps me on studying. Remember that you shouldn’t use all your time in making your notes look pretty, okay? Just make it understandable and organized.
7. Study. Study, study, study! Read your notes! Search the internet for references! Read articles! Watch videos about that topic. Memorize important key points. Time yourself so you know that you’re being on time and not wasting it on one subject. Learn.
8. Listen to music. I don’t know about you but I like listening to instrumental music while studying so I can focus. I also like listening to nature sounds like rain, the sound of wind through the trees, birds chirping, etc. Spotify has these kind of playlist so you can find it! Avoid listening to music with vocals or words because it distracts you.
9. Break times. Give yourself a 5 to 10 minutes break. Remember to atleast set a timer or an alarm to remind yourself. You can go to your social medias, listen to upbeat music, watch some short videos on youtube or read a quick chapter of your favorite updated fanfiction. Always give yourself a break. Studying too much will stress your brain. Learn to have some free alone time and enjoy yourself.
10. Keep away from your social media accounts. You can only check them on your break time. You can use an app block to block certain apps, just search some on the play store, I’m sure that there is one. But if you’re like me and you need to keep away from your phone, you can download this app called Forest: Stay Focused. It’s such a helpful app because you can time it and it lets you plant a tree or a plant of such. However if you cannot resist the temptation and leave the app to check some other apps, the tree will wither and die. Try it, it’s really fun and it helps me stay focused!
11. Reward yourself Ofc. Reward yourself for the small achievements that you achieve. Like buying yourself a chocolate bar or watching your favorite movie or buying that book you want. There are a lot of ways to reward yourself.
12. Rest and sleep. Don’t strain yourself and remember to sleep or take a quick nap. Sleeping helps you remember everything that you’ve learned. Stressing your brain won’t do any good, anyways. Sleep as soon as you finish your routine. Control yourself. Don’t go to Youtube, because we both know that you would stay up all night watching videos. No. You need sleep.
13. Stay happy and positive. Being happy while studying will help you motivate yourself. Always be positive about tomorrow. Don’t be such a pessimist and always smile. You are studying, for your future. Alright? So smile loves, everything will be okay.
I hope that helped. These are just tips that I use. I hope that you will get motivated by these tips and also give you good grades.Sorry for my grammar or incorrect spelling of words, English is not my first language. That’s all!
Toodles~ xo
