Glamdring-19, Iron Wolf. His body yells “Stop!”, but his spirit cries “Never!” Such is his will to win the fight, an indomitable desire to prevail. He barrels ahead of his fireteam, onwards through the foe, unchallenged, unbeaten, unrivalled. The foul Witch-Queen’s brood rises to meet him. A tidal wave of Thrall bodies surges forth, undulating and advancing as one. Twin red optics narrow in concentration, in fury.
What follows is martial prowess on a legendary scale. He is a second-generation Iron Lord; he is a student of the war-maiden Suan Kahn. This is expected of him, and so his fireteam stops to watch. They are a stock no less in greatness of spirit, no less in nobility, but even they know that he is a cut above the majority when it comes to sheer, raw power. Glamdring meets the rippling mass of Thralls with his feet planted, Sentinel shield and long-hafted hammer at the ready.
They wash over him as one, yet he is still unbroken. His feet remain planted. Though they are clawing at him in their dozens, he still stands firm. Glamdring focuses his will, sharpens it with mental litanies and whispered war-chants. These are but mere sheep, he thinks to himself. He casts off his gentleness, the gentleness of the City. He dons his war-mask, a set of thoughts, a set of behaviors that increases his efficacy. Suan has taught him well, and her chief lesson was this.
To be a warrior is to think it. Your power comes as much from your war-graith as it does from the way you carry yourself, think of yourself. “Do not hate the enemy,” She would say to him as a kinder. Often, this would be taught on the field of battle. “Hold only contempt for them, not hate. They are beneath you. Though they might prevail through cunning or foul magicks, they can never beat you in a fair fight. They are beneath you, in spirit and form.”
A tremendous cruciform blade of mixed Solar and Void energies explodes outwards from Glamdring’s form. It scythes through dozens of Thralls at once, squealing and howling like sheep. For that is what they are, sheep in the abattoir. The slaughter is his to command, his to unleash. He charges now, through the slick floor of the ancient lunar facility. The fireteam follows and finishes off any survivors he leaves behind, heartened.
The cub learns from the pack. For the strength of the wolf is the pack, and the strength of the pack is the wolf. Glamdring fights as a member of a team, but he is its chief member, its best asset. His heavy MG howls and roars, shaking with recoil as it unleashes Hell, gunning down all in his path. Chitinous Knights slump to their knees, beaten, their forms pocked and scarred. The fireteam continues on. Their march is inexorable, blasting their way through thousands of Hive.
A Hunter scores a Knight kill with a battle rifle. She pumps the air, enthused by her prowess. It is her teammates’ example that leads her to this. Nearby, a Titan bests her - blasting several with a rocket launcher, into a bloody pulp that splatters onto a nearby wall. They are all inspired by Glamdring, protected under his aegis. He throws himself into the hardest fights, takes on the worst foes, so that they may learn the ropes.
Glamdring is possessed of many weapons. A sword, a shield, even a hammer. A heavy machine gun that kicks up when it fires, requiring some compensation on his part. But his most powerful weapon is the example he sets.
