I made it! I completed my 31 classes in 31 days. It has been such a test of my endurance, my mental state, and my body. I fought my way through multiple injuries, arthritis in my hands, and the exhaustion of the new school year starting. I am a champion. And guess what! I didn't lose any weight. Some people have commented about how they are so proud and that my health will improve because of this. There was nothing wrong with my health and some would argue that working out at this intensity for such an extended period of time is not healthy. Regardless, I did this because I wanted to see if I could, and I did. I gained a ton of muscle, my body changed in different ways, but I did not lose a single pound. And that doesn't make this a failure because weight loss is and was not my goal. My goal was 31 classes in 31 days. Boom! Done! Exercise doesn't have to be about becoming a better person in the eyes of society. Why does the way I look affect how good of a person I am? We all know the devil appears in sheep's clothing so..... yeah. What I did lose during this experience was fear. Fear of being judged, fear of failure, and fear of the unknown. I know everybody who works at my gym and they know me. I made some friends there and we talk about things other than boxing together. I have become a part of that community and so going to boxing is now kind of like going to see my friends, fun (kind of). I'm going to keep boxing. I'm not worried about weight loss or getting "healthier," I'm worried about staying me and I'm pretty happy with myself today. #31in31 #titleboxing #titleboxingsugarhouse #ilovemybag #haes (P.S. I totally got Taco Bell on my way home as a reward :p) (at TITLE Boxing Club Sugarhouse)
