I write a lot about hip hop here so I feel I should address it. An artist was shot and murdered yesterday. I actually mentioned a while back on this blog that I will not be mentioning him and supporting him because I felt the allegations against him were far to heinous to be ignored. That still is true his actions even in death shouldn't be ignored. In fact he can be used as an example of the kind of person aspiring young artists should strive to be better than. But along with this I want to mention it is still disheartening to see another young artist of color to go so early. His death denied true peace and justice to his victims. We will never get to see how he, hopefully within due time, would have been held accountable for his actions.
I also wanted to bring up that although he was in many ways a reprehensible human being his music did bring solemn to some individuals and helped bring them to a more healthy place. On the same note it did hurt others as well, I surely will not forget that about him. Regardless I offer my condolences to those who were hurt by him and those who were hurt by his passing. May he face more just consequences for his actions in whatever awaits him after death.
